As a Senior Information Assistant, you will play a critical role in the successful management & delivery of a responsive, high quality customer centred service, leading an experienced team of Information Assistants to support our Staff and Students. The Information & Operations team provide innovative, reliable services which are continually adapted to meet the changing needs of staff and students, supporting them to become world class professionals. Information & Operations work as part of a wide Library Services Team and assist students, staff, and guests in their use of the Universitys broad range of technologies and library services, helping them work smarter, faster, and easier. The University is continuing to make significant investment in its IT and digital services provision to ensure the delivery of a consistent, high-quality IT and services across the University. Information Services provide IT and Library services which are continually being adapted to meet the changing needs of the staff and students in a rapidly changing technology environment. The Role The Senior Information Assistant plays a key role in delivering high-quality, customer-focused Library services to students, staff, researchers and external users. Working within an agile team under the supervision of the Library Services Manager, the postholder manages the day-to-day operation of the Library Help Desk, coordinating and supervising Information Assistants to ensure an excellent frontline enquiry service across face-to-face, digital and telephone channels. The role combines hands-on customer support with people management, service improvement and the effective use of library and IT systems, working closely with colleagues across Library and Information Services to enhance the user experience and support the Universitys learning, teaching and research priorities. Who are we looking for You will have: Supervisory experience of managing team members Strong customer focussed experience, along with a good working knowledge of common Library and IT applications/systems, internet, and digital information services. Proven experience to proactively offer support with a complex range of needs and promote services to users to meet those needs in a busy and sometimes challenging environment. A degree and/or demonstrable equivalent experience. Ability to work well within a team environment. Excellent communication skills with experience of handling customers enquiries face to face, over the phone and electronically. Experience of using a library and/or service management system. Problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to approach and resolve problems in a thoughtful and practical manner.
