Job TitleClinical Research NurseLocationAberdeen, ScotlandDepartmentClinical Research / Research & DevelopmentReports toPrincipal InvestigatorJob PurposeThe Clinical Research Nurse will be responsible for the safe and effective delivery of clinical research studies in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory requirements, and local policies. The post holder will work collaboratively with investigators, research teams, and clinical services to support the set-up, conduct, and close-out of clinical trials and research studies.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Research DeliveryDeliver clinical research studies in line with approved protocols, GCP, and ethical approvalsScreen, recruit, consent, and follow up research participantsPerform study-related clinical procedures (e.g. observations, venepuncture, ECGs, sample processing)Monitor participant safety and report adverse events in accordance with regulatory requirementsStudy ManagementCoordinate study visits and liaise with clinical departments to ensure smooth study deliveryMaintain accurate and contemporaneous study documentation, including case report forms and source dataAssist with study set-up, site initiation, monitoring visits, and close-out activitiesSupport data collection, query resolution, and audit readinessParticipant Care and AdvocacyAct as a patient advocate, ensuring participants are fully informed and supported throughout their research journeyProvide clear information to participants and respond to questions or concernsEnsure confidentiality and data protection standards are upheld at all timesCollaboration and CommunicationWork closely with Principal Investigators, sponsors, CROs, and multidisciplinary teamsCommunicate effectively with clinical staff, research teams, and external stakeholdersContribute to team meetings, service development, and quality improvement initiativesGovernance and ComplianceEnsure compliance with GCP, GDPR, MHRA regulations, and local SOPsSupport inspections and audits as requiredMaintain mandatory training and professional registrationPerson SpecificationEssentialRegistered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registrationDegree-level qualification or equivalent clinical experienceKnowledge of clinical research and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organisational skills with attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamDesirablePrevious experience in a clinical research or research-active environmentValid GCP certificationExperience in informed consent and clinical trial documentationKnowledge of regulatory and ethical frameworks for clinical researchExperience working with electronic data capture systemsAdditional InformationThe post may involve working across multiple clinical areas within AberdeenSome flexibility in working hours may be required to meet study needsOngoing professional development and research training will be supported
