Job Description

OverviewWe are seeking to appoint a Consultant Psychiatrist post within Adult Mental Health Inpatient and Liaison Services, based in Scunthorpe and covering the area of North Lincolnshire. The Trust provides a comprehensive adult, child, older adult, learning disability, and community forensic mental health services to Rotherham, Doncaster and North Lincolnshire, as well as Community Physical Health Services and Substance Misuse Services in Doncaster. Service and LocationThis whole‑time (10PA) Consultant post is part of Older Persons Mental Health Services with on‑call duties. The postholder will be based at Great Oaks, Scunthorpe, which houses the two inpatient psychiatric wards in North Lincolnshire: Laurel Ward for people over 65 years and Mulberry House Ward for adults of working age. Adult, Older Adult and Acute Care non‑bed‑based services are also based here. ResponsibilitiesProvide Consultant clinical input, including face‑to‑face patient assessment for complex Acute Hospital Liaison, Care Home Liaison and CRHT cases for older adults. Act as the Senior Medical Lead for Laurel Ward. Ensure timely and tailored clinical care of patients under these multidisciplinary teams. Support and advise team members through advice and supervision with direct patient contact, as required. Respond promptly to patient and carer needs with a flexible weekly timetable designed to support district‑wide service demands and rapid throughput of patients. QualificationsMust be on the GMC Specialist Register for Older Adult Psychiatry or be a trainee within six months of completing their CCT. Approved or eligible for approval for Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician status. Evidence of good communication skills and a commitment to multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working.
