Project Field Engineer – Power / High-Accuracy Metering & MonitoringScotland - travel required£46,000 + vehicle + door to door + overtimeWe are seeking a skilled Project Field Engineer to join a specialist team delivering high-accuracy metering, communications and monitoring solutions across critical power infrastructure. This role will focus on the installation, commissioning and fault resolution of metering systems within transmission substations and high-voltage environments, with extensive travel throughout the UK and occasional offshore or international assignments.What you will be doing:Carrying out installation and commissioning works for electrical metering and associated monitoring systems at customer sitesConducting formal SAT and SIT testing and supporting customer witness testing where requiredDiagnosing and resolving electrical, metering and communications faults using portable test equipmentEnsuring all works are completed safely, to industry standards and in line with local site proceduresPreparing and maintaining accurate project documentation including RAMS, commissioning packs and site reportsSupporting project delivery teams to ensure programmes, quality standards and targets are achievedProviding excellent customer service on site to strengthen client relationships and reinforce delivery confidenceWhat we are looking for:Practical electrical or systems engineering background with strong field experienceExperience of working with LV, 11kV and 33kV switchboards and switchgear within infrastructure projectsUnderstanding of electrical instrumentation, control systems and high-accuracy metering principlesKnowledge of communications systems including SCADA, ethernet and protocols such as Modbus, IEC61850, DNP3 and DLMSStrong knowledge of Electrical Safe Systems of Work and site safety requirementsExcellent problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approachStrong organisation and communication skills with a customer-facing mindsetQualifications and travel:Relevant engineering qualifications or practical experience in lieu of formal degreeFull UK driving licence essentialWillingness to travel frequently to remote sites across the UK, often on short notice, including offshore locationsCompetencies such as BS7671 (17th/18th Edition), SCADA exposure and safety certifications are advantageousThis role would suit an engineer who enjoys site-based project work, fault-finding, commissioning, and working on critical power infrastructure projects within the transmission sector.
