Band 5 Clinic Nurse - Ophthalmology Location: North Wales, South Wales and MidlandsDates: ASAP until the end of March, potential to extendShift Days: WeekendsPay: £350-£425 per dayMake a DifferenceID Medical Insourcing is seeking experienced Ophthalmic Outpatient Clinic Nurses to support high-volume insourced ophthalmology clinics within NHS Trusts. This role is ideal for nurses who are confident, adaptable, and experienced in delivering efficient, patient-centered care in fast-paced outpatient settings.Who We’re Looking ForWe are recruiting specialists from the following professional backgrounds:Band 4 Ophthalmic TechniciansBand 5 Pre-Operative Assessment NursesBand 5 Outpatient NursesBand 5 Ward NursesBand 5 Theatre NurseBand 6 Nurse in ChargeRequirements:Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registrationDiploma/Degree in NursingOphthalmic qualification or evidence of specialist trainingProven ophthalmic outpatient experienceConfident working independently in high-throughput clinicsFlexible availability (weekends/evenings advantageous)What We OfferCompetitive ratesFlexible workingOpportunity to support NHS waiting list initiativesRole OverviewUndertake ophthalmic assessments including: Visual acuity testing (Snellen, logmar, kay pictures, Sheridan, amsler, ishihara), Slit lamp examination, Ability to check the anterior segment of the eye, Ability to carry out VH examination, Intraocular pressure measurement (e.g. Goldmann / iCare tonometry), Ability to check Relative Afferent Pupillary Defect (RAPD), Visual field testing (where trained), OCT and retinal imaging (where trained), Ability to use autorefractor and foscimeter machinesPrepare patients for ophthalmic consultations and proceduresAssist ophthalmologists with outpatient procedures, including:Intravitreal injection clinicsLaser treatmentsMinor ophthalmic proceduresAdminister ophthalmic medications and dilating drops as prescribedMonitor patients pre- and post-procedure, identifying and escalating complications promptlyAbility to perform biometry/IOL scans with the use of IOL 500/700 machines and A-scan machineApply now to join our team
