Job Title: Fabricator- PlaterSalary: £38,662 per annum + shift allowance + overtimeLocation: GlasgowWe currently have a vacancy to join one of the world's leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Fabricator- Plater. The role will be based in Glasgow and will require the successful candidate to be on site full time working a varied shift pattern (please see details below).The company works at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions every year for customers in over 100 countries.The company is at the forefront of designing and building world-leading naval ships. As part of a growing team, they are looking for a talented and experienced Fabricator Plater to join them in delivering Type 26 frigates to the Royal Navy.In the Fabricator team, they are doing work that impacts the world. To ensure the delivery of vital security products and services, the team works a variety of shifts. This includes day, back, night and weekend shifts.This is an opportunity to operate in a new innovative and competitive environment.Day Shift: Monday- Thursday 7.00am- 4.30pmNight Shift: Monday- Thursday 8.30pm- 6.00amWeekend Shift: Friday- Sunday 7am- 7.30pmOvertime is also available- please see rates of pay below in the 'Benefits' section.All successful candidates will be required to attend a Trade test which will be held in Glasgow. You will also be required to submit your trade certificates after an initial phone call with the recruiter.Main Responsibilities:Interpreting engineering drawingsMarking – off materialsPlate perpetration, using different methods (Oxy – fuel gas cutting & Hand Grinding)Assembling of ships structures, shell, decks, bulkheads, frames, & longitudinalsFit, fair and tack weld steelwork using fairing aidsFabrication of ship items – seats, ladders, false flooring & panelsOutfitting Ships items, fitting of hatches, watertight doors, equipment seats & false flooringForming Material using machine tools – Rolling, Flanging & Cutting Machines (guillotine, cropper mechanical saw)Benefits:Shift allowance of 33% on both night and weekend shiftsOvertime Pay rates are as follows:Monday- Thursday: 1.33 (Time and a 3rd)Friday: 1.5 (Time and a half for the first 4 hours and 2.00 (Double time) for any hours thereafterSaturday: 1.5 (Time and a half)Sunday: 2.00 (Double time)Enhanced Pension scheme- up to 14% combinedFlexible working pattern including working from home/ flexible start and finish times25 holiday days plus bank holidays- 26 days after 5 years' service/ 27 days after 10 years' serviceShared Incentive PlanEmployee Assistance ProgrammeCycle to Work SchemeLife Assurance (you and your spouse/ partner)- 6 x salaryIll Health Income Protection/ Private Medical Insurance- 50% of salaryAbout You:Modern Apprenticeship certificate also known as Trade Papers (you will be required to provide papers) and minimum SVQ 3 or equivalentCurrent knowledge and experience in FabricationUnderstanding of manufacturing processesTack Welding abilityOxy-fuel and/or Plasma cutting abilityClear understanding of SHE and Risk AssessmentComfortable working in confined spaces and/or at heightSafety certification i.e. SHE Induction, Risk Assessment, working at height etc.Background in a major construction / manufacturing environmentYou must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 yearsAbout Aeropeople:Whether you're looking for your next job or searching out the next superstar to join your team...Aeropeople's expertise and experience is entrenched in the aerospace, aviation, engineering, motorsport, automotive, and defence industries.
