Sales Engineer – Geotechnical and Civil EngineeringJob Title: Sales Engineer – Geotechnical & Civil EngineeringJob reference Number: 768345-8483-2635Industry Sector: Civil Engineer Contractors and Main Civil Contractors, Highways, Geotextile, Geosynthetics, Consulting Engineers, Local Authorities and Highways Maintenance ContractorsArea to be covered: ScotlandRemuneration: £50,000 Neg. + 10% bonusBenefits: £550 Car Allowance + full benefits packageThe role of the Sales Engineer – Geotechnical & Civil Engineering will involve:Field based technical role, responsible for providing technical support, technical advice, project management, and quotations to clients who are looking to utilize a wide range of geotechnical productsBusiness development both technically and commercially, with a remit to promote our clients solutions and design and installation servicesPromoting predominantly retaining walls & structures and soil reinforced slopes & walls (but also erosion protection, rock-fall hazard mitigation, pavement & ground stabilization, geosynthetics etc.)Circa 50% of your time winning specifications with consulting engineers50% managing, building relationships and breaking specifications (using technical expertise) with civil engineering contractorsProjects can vary from housing schemes to infrastructureManaging an area currently turning over approx. £800,000-£1.2m currently performing slightly below budget expectation (predominantly down to current economic climate)50% new business prospecting, 50% account management, you will inherit a healthy project bankTypical projects range in size from £10,000-£50,000, although can be much largerThree days a week on the road winning specifications and influencing specifiers, two days a week working from home on technical proposals and designsWorking in conjunction with established distribution partners and internal sales team resourcePlan, develop and execute technical seminars and presentations on all geosynthetic materialsThe ideal applicant will be a Sales Engineer – Geotechnical & Civil Engineering experience with:Open to non-sales background with geotechnical contractors or civil engineering contractors or consulting engineers looking for a more commercially led roleIdeally no graduates must have at least 2 years' experience in the industry.Proven track record of winning geotechnical or civil engineering specification projects is not essentialPrevious experience of influencing and managing relationships with consulting engineers and civil engineering contractors is preferentialIdeally with a technical/ commercial mixConstruction site experienceSelf-starter, motivated to work from homeCivil engineering, geology or geotechnical qualification preferred (HNC and above)Technically astuteUnderstands value engineeringContacts within consulting engineers and civil engineering contractors may be advantageousKnowledge of geotechnical products is not required as full product training will be givenAn understanding of civil engineering proposals and designsPractical experience in designing with geosyntheticsThe Company:Very well established businessCirca £20m UK turnoverPart of a larger groupPrivately held
