Combination of Days & Nights (E.g. - 4 days, 4 off, 4 nights)+ Opportunity for overtime, Paid at 1.25%This role falls inside IR35 - payment via PAYE or Umbrella CompanyFunction of RoleTo service, complex fault find and repair Hitachi rolling stock assetsKey ResponsibilitiesMaintain the condition of the work site, materials and equipmentAdhere to health, safety, environmental & quality practices in the workplacePrepare for and undertake planned and unplanned maintenance activitiesConfirm that traction and rolling stock assets comply with operational specifications by the use ofengineering processes and techniquesRead and extract information from traction and rolling stock drawings and specificationsPrepare for and undertake the removal and replacement of traction and rolling stock componentsModify or manufacture traction and rolling stock components by material removal using hand toolsAssemble traction and rolling stock components using engineering processes and techniquesInstall new traction and rolling stock components using engineering processes and techniquesIdentify, assess and rectify defects and discrepancies on Hitachi rolling stock assetsIdentify repeat defects on Hitachi rolling stock assets and suggest / carry out repairsCreate technical scopes of work for fault rectification by other members of staffSupport reliability technicians with regards reliability improvements to rolling stock assetsAttend and provide technical support with failures in service when on dutyProvide operational support to users of Hitachi rolling stock assetsKeep SAP record system up to date with clear and concise information of work carried out.Develop professionally and support good working relationshipsLearn new skills in accordance with Hitachi's new business demands as requiredLiaison with Hitachi and external personnel as required to complete the duties of the postOther responsibilities relevant to the role based on localised requirementsEssential Licences / CompetencesNetwork Rail Sentinel PTSTime Served Rolling Stock Experience with mechanical, electrical disciplines.Engineering based NVQ level 3HNC Engineering (Desirable)Experience of working a 24/7 shift roster in a modern rolling stock maintenance depot environment.Outstanding Safety Awareness gained in an operational railway engineering environment.Experience of working at stabling outstations or main line station technical support.Modern fault finding and repair techniques using pc-based laptops and remote train diagnostics.Extensive experience of modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and associated reliability and available trend analysis.Experience of performing modifications and campaigns on modern rolling stock.BehaviouralCan comfortably work within a team or on their ownSound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations (internal and external)Able to always represent Hitachi in a professional mannerCalm and diplomatic under pressure.Ability to investigate complex electrical and mechanical faults and write detailed reports.Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAble to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.Loyal, committed, confident and determined.DesirableLicences / CompetencesManual HandlingCOSHHWorking at heightPowered plant, and tools.Intermediate IT skills - typically Word, Excel, Power Point, OutlookReading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings readingPowered plant and tools - bogie drop, cranes, air systems / 110v tools.Depot ProtectionAC/DC Depot isolationRequirementsLive within commuting distance (1 hour) of Etches Park DepotRight to work in the UK and able to provide proof of qualificationsComplianceThis is a safety-critical role.
