Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist (CAMHS)Bournemouth, DorsetInpatient CAMHS – Brand New High Intensity Environment (PICU)Substantive | Full-Time | Flexible Working SupportedAre you a CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist looking to be part of something new and impactful?Dorset HealthCare is expanding its inpatient CAMHS provision with a brand-new, purpose-built 8-bed High Intensity Environment (HIE/PICU) in Bournemouth. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and develop a growing acute CAMHS service within an outstanding Trust.About the RoleYou will join a supportive inpatient CAMHS team at Pebble Lodge (General Adolescent Unit), working alongside:An existing Inpatient CAMHS ConsultantA Specialist DoctorA Specialty DoctorYou'll provide expert assessment and treatment planning for young people with complex mental health presentations, working closely with families, community CAMHS teams, and multidisciplinary colleagues across Dorset.Key ResponsibilitiesComprehensive psychiatric assessment and treatment planningDirect clinical work including face-to-face reviewsWorking collaboratively with families and community teamsCPA meetings and discharge planningTribunal work and clinical report writingDaily MDT meetings with ward staffSupporting trainee development (RCPsych accredited training unit)You will be expected to:Maintain Section 12(2) approvalBe an Approved ClinicianContribute to service development and leadershipEssentialMBBS (or equivalent) with Licence to PractiseMRCPsych (or recognised equivalent)CCT in Psychiatry (or within 6 months) or entry on Specialist RegisterSection 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status (or ability to obtain)Strong MDT working and excellent communication skillsExperience managing complex CAMHS presentationsAbility to meet duties under the MHA and MCADesirableTeaching experienceBroader sub-specialty CAMHS experienceAdditional qualifications in education, research, or leadershipWhat's on OfferEnhanced Recruitment & Retention Package£20,000 (paid in two instalments: £10,000 on appointment + £10,000 after 12 months)Up to £10,000 relocation package (if relocating to Dorset)Professional Development10 days study leave per yearUp to £1,000 annual study leave budgetStrong support for leadership and management developmentWork-Life Balance & BenefitsCommitment to flexible workingNHS pensionCareer development opportunitiesWork within a CQC-rated 'Outstanding' Trust
