Every colleague has a voice here — and every step you take helps move us forward.THE OPPORTUNITYWe're looking for an experienced, hands-on Technical Manager to join our team at Lymn Bank Farm, our specialist waxed cheese and cheese bite production site.This is a senior, site-critical role within an FMCG SME environment — fast-paced, customer-focused and constantly evolving. You'll have full ownership of food safety, quality and legality, while leading and developing a technical team of up to four colleagues.This is more than a job — it's a chance to make a real impact in a business that's transforming with pace, purpose and pride.In this role, you will:Lead all aspects of food safety, quality and legality, ensuring compliance with internal standards, customer codes of practice and regulatory requirementsOwn and manage all technical and quality audits, ensuring the site is audit-ready at all timesLead the Technical Team, including Quality Assurance, Control, Evening Hygiene Team and Pest Management serviceDevelop and deliver an integrated technical strategy with clear ownership, accountability and measurable outcomesBuild and embed a strong food safety and quality culture across the siteManage performance, objectives, training and development for all team members, supported by a clear training matrixMonitor technical performance through KPIs, complaints, non-conformances and trend analysisEnsure all technical visits are professionally managed, reinforcing a high-performing, best-in-class reputationProvide clear, accurate technical reporting to the Managing DirectorDrive continuous improvement across technical systems, processes and peopleYou'll be joining a workplace where collaboration and curiosity are encouraged. And where discovering better ways of working is simply what we do.ABOUT YOUWe want to work with people who are bold, organised and thrive in fast-paced environments — people who share our values and are ready to take ownership.You'll bring:A degree (or equivalent) in Food Science or a related disciplineMinimum 10 years' experience in FMCG or a similar environment, including at least 5 years in a people management roleStrong experience in retail-facing technical environments and customer standardsBRC compliance knowledge and hands-on audit experienceProven ability to manage and develop teams of up to four peopleExceptional organisation, planning and prioritisation skillsStrong commercial awareness and sound decision-making abilityA detail-focused, methodical approach with the confidence to work at paceExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levelsStrong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systemsDesirable:Experience working directly with retailer quality systemsUp-to-date knowledge of technical and consumer trendsA continuous improvement mindset — always looking to raise standards and reduce riskYou'll also demonstrate behaviours aligned to our values:Be Better.
