The Opportunity for a Chartered Health and Safety Manger.Hinkley Point C (HPC) is delivering two new nuclear reactors — the first of a new generation of UK nuclear power stations, providing low-carbon electricity to around six million homes.We are seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Manager to join the Site Construction leadership team. Reporting directly to the Head of Construction Health & Safety, you will play a critical role in shaping, leading, and embedding a world-class health, safety and wellbeing culture across one of Europe's largest and most complex construction projects.This is a high-impact leadership role, working closely with Tier 1 contractors, internal teams, regulators, and senior stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and set new standards for safety excellence in the nuclear sector.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as deputy to the Head of Construction Health & Safety, leading departmental activity and prioritiesProvide visible, credible leadership across site, engaging operatives through to senior executivesOversee Principal Contractor arrangements aligned to evolving site risk profilesDrive continuous improvement programmes and consistent safety messaging across contractorsCoach and influence senior leaders to strengthen safety culture and behavioursManage relationships with regulatorsSupport emergency response planning, assurance activities, and departmental budgetsLead, develop, and empower a high-performing health 'safety teamPromote a strong nuclear safety culture aligned to licence conditions and best practiceAbout YouThis role suits an experienced health 'safety leader ready for a step into a major, capital-intensive organisation.You will bring:Proven experience on large or medium-scale construction projects, ideally within EPC environmentsStrong knowledge of CDM Regulations, nuclear regulatory frameworks, and complex compliance environmentsAbility to influence and build trust across a wide range of stakeholdersExperience engaging with regulators and senior leadership teamsA pragmatic, collaborative, and emotionally intelligent leadership styleEssential Qualifications & ExperienceNEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)Chartered Member of a recognised H&S body (or working towards)Strong background in behavioural safety and safety culture improvementExperience managing teams in high-risk, highly regulated environmentsAdditional InformationContractual location: Hinkley Point CMinimum 4 days per week on siteMust meet UK Security Vetting requirements (typically 3 of the last 5 years UK residency)Why Join Us?Be part of a landmark UK infrastructure projectInfluence safety strategy at the highest levelLong-term career development within a major nuclear programmeOpportunity to set new benchmarks for construction safety
