The RoleThe Production Engineer will support electronics manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient and accurate conversion of customer PCB designs into production-ready documentation and processes.The role focuses on process design, work instruction creation, production troubleshooting, and supporting surface mount technology (SMT) operations within a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and document work procedures and issue detailed work instructionsReview customer PCB design data and convert into clear production documentationGenerate and issue pick-and-place data for SMT operationsDesign and build simple production test jigs and wiring harnesses for programming devicesTroubleshoot and resolve production-related issuesFault-find and diagnose failed electronic devicesMonitor equipment performance and resolve or escalate technical concernsLiaise with product designers and customers when requiredUse Gerber viewing software to review and validate PCB layoutsProvide support and guidance on SMT pick-and-place machine setup where requiredThe CandidatePrevious production experience within electronics manufacturing (essential)Strong understanding of PCB assembly processesAbility to interpret Gerber files and SMT dataExperience with surface mount assembly processesExposure to SMT equipmentUnderstanding of electronic circuits at component level (desirable)Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilityMethodical and process-driven approachGood communication skillsAbility to work independently and within a production teamThe Salary£40,000- £55,000 depending on skillset and experience.
