This role requires proven experience within the nuclear sector, working in a disciplined engineering environment on an industrial plant.This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering engineering solutions within a highly regulated environment, supporting projects from concept through to commissioning and handover.The RoleAs Nuclear Project Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying project requirements, developing engineering solutions, and ensuring technical delivery aligns with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.You will contribute to the full project lifecycle, including design development, safety case input, construction oversight, commissioning, and final handover to operations.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned projectsContribute to the Project Execution Plan, including design, safety case, and commissioning strategiesSupport optioneering and concept design developmentDevelop fit-for-purpose engineering solutionsProduce and approve technical specificationsManage detailed design activities in line with design authority standardsPrepare modification proposals and act as Nominated Responsible Engineer (NRE) where appointedReview and technically assess contractor method statements and risk assessmentsProvide technical supervision of construction and deconstruction activitiesApprove as-built documentation and manage configuration controlSpecify and supervise commissioning and/or decommissioning activitiesManage handover to operations, ensuring full documentation and training provisionConduct event reviews and root cause analysis to drive continuous improvementEnsure full compliance with Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality standardsEssential RequirementsProven experience within the nuclear sector (essential)HNC, Degree, or NQF Level 5/6 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical EngineeringExperience in a disciplined engineering role on an industrial plantNuclear and/or conventional project engineering experienceUnderstanding of relevant company and national engineering standardsCandidate must hold or be willing to obtain Triple Bar status (training costs covered by client)DesirableKnowledge of Safety Rules and risk assessment methodologyUnderstanding of Site Licence Conditions and Quality Management SystemsWorking knowledge of CDM Designer roleContract management and project delivery experienceMembership of a relevant Engineering InstitutionChartered status advantageousAdditional RequirementsCandidate must fund and complete Drugs & Alcohol testing and DBS check prior to starting (costs not reimbursed)Must be eligible to work within a high-security regulated environment
