With operations in 17 countries and employing over 6,000 staff worldwide, our business responds to the needs of our clients by delivering high-value engineering expertise tailored to our clients' most complex challenges.In the UK, we have a key focus in the Nuclear sector, contributing to ground breaking projects, such as Hinkley Point C (HPC), as well as frameworks across fusion, defence and decommissioning.The Position: Environmental Package Manager - Nuclear DecommissioningVulcain Engineering UK are seeking an experienced Environmental Package Manager to lead and deliver environmental engineering activities within a major, safety-critical decommissioning programme.Some of the main responsibilities of the Environmental Package Manager will include:Review and evaluate the decommissioning strategy using extensive industry knowledge and experienceProvide guidance on programme phasing, priorities, and strategic environmental considerationsAdvise on critical decisions to secure programme benefitsEnsure appropriate technical environmental processes and operating procedures are developed, followed, and formally implementedWork closely with key stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of scheduled activitiesSupport development of Environmental Management Strategies for assigned projects, including authoring and reviewing: Regulatory Interface Arrangements, Radiological Monitoring Strategy, Energy Efficiency Strategy, Carbon Management Strategy, Sustainability Strategy And Resource StrategyAct as Technical Expert for the environmental discipline within the programmeLead development of the Environment Case for plant design and decommissioning, working alongside the Safety Case teamAct as Intelligent Customer for environmental scopes, defining procurement strategies and overseeing outsourced specialist studiesManage consultants and environmental delivery teams within the programmeIdentify and assess environmental risks, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate where requiredPreferred Profile:Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following:Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline – environmental and/or engineering qualifications preferredExtensive experience within the environmental discipline on large, complex programmes – ideally within the nuclear decommissioning or waste managementExpert knowledge of environmental and sustainability legislation and government standardsDemonstrated experience embedding Best Available Techniques (BAT) and Environmental Impact Identification (ENVID) into complex engineering projectsStrong working knowledge of ISO14001, including certification processesIEMA Certificate in Environmental Management (or equivalent)Extensive experience within decommissioning, demolition, or facility decommissioning environmentsKnowledge of radiation requirements under Environment Agency permitsExperience delivering technical training, mentoring, and coachingPlease note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs.
