Job Description

Job summary/PurposeTo provide engineering support at all stages of the development process, from initial viability advice to full design packages, gaining technical consents and providing advice to all other departments and selected contractors during construction. Undertake engineering design directly or assess and appraise consultants designs for suitability and to ensure the designs are the most cost effective, compliant with legislation and practical. Commission and manage consultants, for civil and structural designs, ensuring all information is available and competent for use in tendering, production and in the procurement of technical consents. Liaising with NHBC to ensure all appropriate standards pre-construction have been met, and throughout the project ensuring all conditional items are concludedsatisfactorily.Primary ResponsibilitiesHealth, Safety & EnvironmentCompetently implement CDM/EMS, identifying foreseeable risk in designs and taking action to design risk out, in line with company policy.Discharge the Designers responsibilities under CDM regulations.Fully understand the CDM/EMS regulations and demonstrate a working knowledge of how these should be incorporated into designs.Ensure CDM/EMS site start processes and site close out procedures are followed and recorded.Maintain a good understanding of environmental/ecological constraints to development and ensure that appropriate mitigation is undertaken to allow development to proceed in line with the Regional Programme.Land and, Planning & Community EngagementContinue to develop site designs and provide full engineering support throughout the planning and building regulation process.Manage consultants in road, sewer, levels, cut and fill designs, to satisfy planning whilst maintaining the most competitive and practical solution.Co-ordinate and manage external consultants to resolve any engineering issues.Co-ordinate and manage statutory bodies such as Highway Authorities/ Road authority, Water Companies, Environment Agencies etc to resolve any engineering issues.Work with the project team to add value and secure the best planning consent and engineering solution for the company.Manage community engagement consultations to support planning applications.Responsible for evaluation and appraisal of development opportunities to purchase new sites. Experience, Qualifications, Technical RequirementsExtensive experience of engineering issues gained within housebuilding industry e.g. roads and sewers, foundations, land drainage, utilities, etc.IT/Computer literateEngineering related qualification, degree or equivalent. A degree or higher education course which ideally is accredited by the Institution for Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Institute of Chartered Engineers (ICE).Part of a successful engineering team.A high level of proficiency in AutoCAD / PDS / Windes / MicrodrainageAbility to undertake civil engineering design in-house and to manage and assess external designsThorough understanding of technical and regulatory requirementsAbility to interpret geotechnical and environmental reports and make suitable recommendationsDemonstrate a track record of producing technical site appraisalsThorough knowledge of assessment of ground conditions for foundation and sub- structure designThorough knowledge of remediation techniques and methodologyAbility to work to tight deadlines and prioritiseIf you are interested please apply with your CV or give Hollie a call today on 07947722417JBRP1_UKTJ
