Building a sustainable tomorrowKierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and BAM UK & Ireland - BAM UK & Ireland's infrastructure segment is currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor.You will be in the Submarine Refit Complex (SRC), working on the 14 & 15 dock floodwall and roadway projects- specifically caisson seal maintenance, cradle refurbishment and cope pit infills.Due to the nature of work at Devonport, there will be a high level of security checking in place which means for this project we can only consider candidates that are British citizens.Your teamLocation: Devonport Dockyard, PlymouthContract: Permanent, 42.5 hours a weekMaking PossibleIn this role, you will be working in a live MOD facility. Your day-to-day tasks will include:Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projectsConduct cost planning and control throughout the project lifecycleReview and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and variationsManage procurement processes and evaluate supplier and subcontractor bidsMonitor project progress and forecast final costs, identifying potential financial risksPrepare interim and final payment applications and valuationsLiaise with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliersEnsure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standardsPrepare financial reports, cost analysis, and documentation for project stakeholdersMentor and guide junior quantity surveyors and other team membersAssist in dispute resolution related to costs and contractual issuesFrom time to time, you may be required by the Company to perform other tasks, which are not included in the above description, but are within your capabilities and, where necessary, training, and full support will be givenWhat do you bring to the role?Essential:Professionally qualified operator with at least 3 years post professional qualification relevant experience or 5 years experienceAcademic Qualifications - Quantity Surveying (HNC, BSc, MSc)CSCS - White PQP/AQPBachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related fieldProfessional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB) preferredExtensive experience (typically 5+ years) in quantity surveying within construction or infrastructure projectsStrong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniquesProficient in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, QS Suite, PlanSwift)Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamDesirable:Experience of similar role, preferred in relevant sector (ie Nuclear and Defence)Whats in it for you?Competitive salaryA wide range of family-friendly policiesCompany car/car allowance/travel allowance8 % matched pension contributionsPrivate healthcareLife assurance26 days holiday2 wellbeing days1 volunteering dayPersonal and professional developmentAbout BAMBuilding a sustainable tomorrow.
