Renowned for exceptional quality and service, we are the trusted landscaping partner for many of the UKs top housing developers and commercial organisations.We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve safety standards across our landscaping and operational sites. This is a key role in our business, ensuring we maintain a safe, compliant, and proactive safety culture across depots, client sites, and field operations.This is an on-site role involving a mix of policy development, site-based safety work, administration, training, audits, and incident management. You will take ownership of the companys health, safety and environmental systems, ensuring compliance with UK legislation while embedding a Safe People, Safe Place, Safe Practice culture across the organisation.If youre someone who combines strong technical H&S knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach and the confidence to challenge behaviours positively, wed love to hear from you!Key Responsibilities: Policy Development, Implementation & ReportingDevelop, review and implement compliant company health 'safety policiesProduce specific risks associated with landscaping and operational activitiesPrepare/present HS&E reports and facilitate budget forecastingRisk ManagementConduct & review risk assessments across all activities and depot infrastructureDevelop safe systems of work and manage permit-to-work systemsProduce site-specific RAMS (for contracts and projects)Training & Safety CultureDeliver and coordinate health 'safety training, including toolbox talks & campaign materialsPromote a proactive safety-first culture through engagement and communicationSite Inspections & AuditsCarry out regular inspections across company sites and client sitesReport findings, recommend improvements, and track actions to completionIncident ManagementLead investigations (accidents, incidents, near-misses etc)Identify root causes and implement corrective actionsEnsure compliance with RIDDOR and maintain accurate reporting recordsCompliance & External LiaisonEnsure compliance with all relevant UK H&S legislation and industry standardsOversee compliance and maintenance relating to EICR, DSEAR, COSHH, asbestos, fire safety, etc.Liaise with HSE, Environment Agency, insurers and contractors as requiredMaintain industry accreditations (e.g. BALI, CHAS, SMAS, Constructionline)Equipment, PPE & FacilitiesOversee maintenance of safety-critical equipment in depotsEnsure appropriate PPE provision, training, and compliance checksSupport oversight of soft facilities managementContinuous ImprovementLead Health & Safety Committee meetingsMonitor trends and safety performance metricsDrive continuous improvement initiativesStay current with changes in legislation and best practiceWere looking for someone who is:Experienced in a similar H&S role (i.e. landscaping, construction or similar)Confident in influencing managers and frontline teams. Able to challenge unsafe behaviours and coach positivelyPractical, solutions-focused, and confident working in operational environmentsOrganised, detail-oriented and proactiveSkilled in producing clear policies, RAMS, training materials and reportsA strong communicator at all levelsAble to attend the main site LE14 3BQ, but travel to other sites on an occasional basis, and be eligible to live and work in the UK.Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (or equivalent)Membership of a professional body (IOSH, IIRSM or similar)Strong knowledge of COSHH and hazardous substances regulationsSolid understanding of UK health 'safety legislationThis is a full-time working 40 hours on-site, between Monday and Friday with the flexibility to work some earlier mornings to support the operations.
