Wintel / Configuration EngineerSwindon - 3 days on-site per week6 monthsInside IR35The RoleOur client is seeking an Environment Engineer to support integrated test environments for a large-scale financial services programme with the end client.This role sits within Environment Engineering and focuses on environment stability, configuration, and operational support. You'll work closely with QA, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to provision environments, maintain compliance, and resolve incidents quickly and effectively.If you enjoy hands-on technical support, automation, and keeping complex environments running smoothly, this is a strong long-term contract opportunity.Key ResponsibilitiesProvision, configure, and maintain integrated test environmentsEnsure environment stability, reliability, and availabilityProvide L1/L2 support across Wintel-based platforms and applicationsWork closely with QA teams to support testing activities and resolve environment issuesCollaborate with infrastructure and DevOps teams to manage capacity and performanceTroubleshoot incidents and perform root cause analysisEnsure environments meet security, compliance, and operational standardsSupport batch processing and certificate management activitiesContribute to automation and continuous improvement initiativesMust Have Skills & ExperienceYou should have solid hands-on experience in L1/L2 environment or infrastructure support, including:Configuration & Environment SupportWintel (Windows-based environments)Windows ServerNET applicationsPowerShell scriptingSQL ServerDevOps tooling and practicesDigital Lab / Testing SupportL1/L2 support experience in Digital Lab environmentsEggplant (test automation or environment support exposure)Certificate Management & AutomationCertificate lifecycle managementAutomation experience within Wintel environmentsTools such as AppViewX and AnsibleNET-based automation or scriptingNice-to-Have SkillsFinancial services or banking domain experienceExperience supporting large, integrated test environmentsExposure to batch scheduling or batch operationsStrong documentation and knowledge-sharing mindsetAll profiles will be reviewed against the required skills and experience.
