This role is ideal for a highly skilled radio communications specialist who enjoys leading technical delivery, overseeing system design, and ensuring engineering excellence across large-scale projects throughout the UK and Europe.As the Technical Lead, you will act as a key technical authority, supporting project teams, guiding engineers, liaising with customers, and ensuring that all radio communication systems are delivered to the highest standards.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Coordination & PlanningAttend project calls and deployment meetingsInterpret customer technical requirements and installation scopesCascade technical instructions to engineers and subcontractorsWork closely with the PMO to align engineering resourcesTechnical OversightValidate site survey outputs including heat maps and floor plansIdentify risks, blockers, and technical challenges before installationEnsure compliance with engineering standards and customer specificationsSite EngagementConduct site familiarisation and occasional site visits for complex deploymentsPerform pre?installation checks and visual walkthroughsDocumentation & ReportingGather engineering feedback and prepare close?out documentationMaintain accurate technical records and ensure timely submission to customersSubcontractor & Customer LiaisonCommunicate installation plans, cable routes, and antenna placementsProvide technical guidance and resolve on?site issuesSupport pre?sales activities including surveys, system design, and specificationsDeliver post?sales support including customer trainingGeneral Engineering DutiesDesign, install, and commission PMR, DMR, telemetry radio, and microwave systemsSupport and maintain Motorola radio systemsDiagnose and repair radio equipment from hand portables to base stationsProduce H&S documentation to meet customer requirementsMaintain high technical standards and support knowledge sharing within the teamParticipate in regional standby rotas when requiredEnsure all documentation is completed accurately and on timeAdhere to Health & Safety guidelines at all timesKey OutcomesDeliver exceptional service to all customersEnsure smooth handover of completed installations to the service teamStrengthen the organisations reputation through high?quality engineering leadershipEssential Skills & ExperienceProven working background in two?way radio communicationsStrong knowledge of Motorola PMR, DMR, TETRA, telemetry, or microwave systemsUnderstanding of IP technologies including routing, switching, and VoIPExperience with DAS (active and passive), VHF/UHF, and cellular systemsAbility to detect and resolve RF interference and intermodulation issuesKnowledge of 2G/3G/4G in?building coverage techniquesEMF testing and ICNIRP compliance experienceProven project design and project management capabilityCompetent in producing H&S documentationAble to work at heights and in confined spacesWillingness to travel across the UK and EuropeStrong written and verbal communication skillsFull UK driving licence and valid passportAbility to work independently and as part of a teamWillingness to undergo security vettingDesirableExperience with LV electrical systemsSCADA / Control & Automation knowledgeUnderstanding of TCP/IP, MODBUS, Profibus, RS232Experience with Trbonet, Windows Server, SQL ServerRF over Fibre experienceDuplexer, combiner, and filter tuningCCNA or PASMA trainingHNC Electrical/Electronics or equivalentConfined space or CSCS/EUSR/SHEA certificationBenefits:Competitive SalaryBonusHybridFull training and development23 days Bank HolidaysPensionMedical Cash PlanLife InsuranceDiscounted Gym MembershipCareer DevelopmentStaff events/ incentivesPlus so much more.How to Apply:Send your CV toOr call Helen on 0161 237 4230This vacancy is being handled by Aspire Recruitment.
