We invest heavily in ongoing training and development to ensure our teams not only have fulfilling careers but also deliver 'best in class' technical advice and services to our clients.What's the Job About?Working to defined industry and company standards, you will manage and deliver engineering projects across refined oil and natural gas pipelines, storage sites, road and rail terminals, and associated pump stations.This role is suited to a rotating equipment engineer who combines strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with practical experience of pumps, motors, and mechanical seal systems. You will manage engineering scopes from technical definition and specification through procurement, testing, installation, and return to service, often supporting multiple projects and operational assets simultaneously.You will work closely with BPA's lead pump manufacturers and specialist suppliers, with regular involvement in design reviews, factory visits, pump testing, and technical training. This provides a strong opportunity for professional development, allowing the successful candidate to deepen their rotating equipment knowledge and skills through direct communication with equipment manufacturers and exposure to real‐world design, testing, and performance considerations.You will play a key role in supporting safe, compliant engineering decisions that protect asset integrity, improve pump reliability, and support long‐term lifecycle performance.What You'll Be Doing:Rotating Equipment & Mechanical EngineeringProvide specialist engineering input for centrifugal pumps, pump motors, and mechanical seal systemsDevelop and review technical specifications for new equipment, repairs, and refurbishmentsSupport engineering decisions relating to pump performance, reliability, and lifecycle managementDesign & Technical AssuranceReview technical documentation, drawings, and vendor submissionsLead or support technical bid evaluations and vendor capability assessmentsParticipate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and return‐to‐service approvalsApply good working knowledge of API 610 and API 682 in support of safe and reliable operationProject Delivery SupportSupport delivery of engineering projects from approval through commissioningCoordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and suppliersContribute to risk assessments, method statements, and technical query resolutionSite & Operational SupportProvide site‐based engineering support during installation, commissioning, and fault resolutionWork closely with operations and maintenance teams to resolve rotating equipment issuesEnsure work is carried out in accordance with health, safety, and company standardsWhat You'll Need:Degree‐qualified Mechanical Engineer with significant relevant industry experienceStrong specialist knowledge of rotating equipment, including centrifugal pumps, motors, and mechanical seal systemsProven experience in specification, procurement, overhaul, and refurbishment of pump and motor packagesExperience supporting vendor engagement, technical bid evaluation, FAT, and return‐to‐service activitiesWorking knowledge of API 610 and API 682Background in a UK regulated, safety‐critical industrial environmentAbility to provide clear technical authority across project and operational engineering activitiesCompetent project engineering skills, including delivery of site‐based engineering worksFull UK driving licenceSalaryBasic salary of £45,000 – £55,000What's on OfferGenerous pension (up to 12% employer contribution, 2% employee)Annual bonus scheme (up to 12% of annual salary)Life insurance (4x annual salary)28 days holiday + 8 days bank holidaysAdditional holiday purchase schemeFamily friendly policiesEmployee assistance support schemePrivate Medical CoverVarious well-being initiativesYou will work on a hybrid basis out of our Hemel Hempstead office and need to be based within commutable distance and have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship.Join us and become a vital part of a team, Keeping the UK Moving 24/7/365!Diversity & InclusionWe know that diverse teams drive innovation and excellence.
