Fabric Technician / Handy PersonLocation: PO15Hours: 40 hours per week - shift patterns of 7:00am-3:30pm and 9:30am-6:00pm (30-minute unpaid lunch)Hays is recruiting a Fabric Technician / Handyperson with DBS.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fabric or carpentry professional who takes pride in high-quality maintenance work and delivering excellent customer service.The successful candidate will be required to hold a basic DBS certificate dated within the last 3 months. This vetting isRequired to allow unescorted access on site.The RoleAs a Fabric Technician, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of both reactive and planned maintenance across the site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to agreed timescales.Key duties will include:Responding to reactive maintenance tasks and completing them within agreed timescalesCarrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and minor project workRepairing and replacing floor and wall coverings, ceiling tiles, and other building fabric as requiredSupporting lighting maintenance, including general lamp changes, as well as basic plumbing tasks and filter changesConducting site surveys and producing reports, method statements and risk assessments for planned worksUsing a PDA system to receive jobs, update progress and complete all required documentationLiaising with client representatives to ensure clear communication and excellent customer serviceEnsuring all work is carried out safely and in line with Health & Safety at Work RegulationsAbout YouWe are looking for a proactive, skilled technician who can work independently and represent Hays and our client professionally on site.You will have:Previous experience in fabric maintenance, carpentry or a related tradeCity & Guilds or NVQ (or equivalent) in carpentryExperience of painting and decorating and working with fire doorsA proven track record of working in high-profile work environmentsA current UK driving licenceGood PC skills and the ability to pick up new systems quickly (including use of PDA technology)Strong communication and customer relationship skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and colleaguesThe ability to interpret technical drawings, instructions and processesA self-motivated, organised approach with strong attention to detailA good understanding of Health & Safety procedures, including COSHH, Working at Heights and Risk AssessmentsHays EA is a trading division of Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited and acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
