Your new companyWe are partnering with a highly respected, global engineering consultancy to appoint a Design Manager (MEP) for Data Centres, based in London. This is a career-defining opportunity to lead multi-disciplinary design delivery across some of the UK and Europe's most complex, high-profile mission-critical facilities.In this role, you'll act as the primary design lead for major data centre programmes, driving technical excellence, setting design direction, and ensuring seamless delivery from concept through to handover.Your new roleAs Design Manager, you will take ownership of end-to-end MEP design delivery on large-scale data centre projects, working across mechanical, electrical, controls/BMS, sustainability and wider building-services disciplines.You will:Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary MEP design teams throughout the full project lifecycleManage programme, cost, risk and quality, ensuring all deliverables meet technical and commercial objectivesOversee key documentation including design reports, specifications, risk registers and change logsFacilitate design reviews, client workshops and technical meetingsSupport procurement, testing, commissioning and post-handover activitiesChampion collaboration, design excellence and sustainable engineering in highly complex environmentsWhat you'll need to succeedWe're looking for a proven MEP leader with a strong track record in mission-critical delivery.Qualifications:Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)Chartered Engineer status preferred or actively working towards7-12 years managing MEP design on data centres or other mission-critical facilitiesStrong technical understanding of:UPS systems, standby generation, LV/MV distribution, earthing, batteriesCRAC/CRAH, chilled water systems, pumping, control/BMS strategiesDemonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teamsExperience managing clients, contractors, architects and stakeholders on complex programmesConfident leading meetings, managing expectations and driving outcomesWhat you'll get in returnOpportunity to lead flagship data centre projects with a global consultancySupportive, high-performance culture with strong career progression pathwaysExposure to cutting-edge engineering challenges in one of the fastest-growing sectorsCompetitive salary and benefits packageWhat you need to do nowIf you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV , or call Adam Smeddle on 0207 259 8760.If this job isn't quite right for you but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion on your career.Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
