Manual Machinist Fitter & TurnerFull-Time | Permanent | DaysSalary up to £30,000 per annumImmediate start availableWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Manual Machinist / Fitter & Turner to join a well-established engineering workshop specialising in precision mechanical components and hydraulic equipment.This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with manual machines, problem-solving, and taking pride in high-quality workmanship.The RoleYou will be responsible for machining, assembling, testing, and maintaining mechanical and hydraulic components, working to drawings and specifications in a workshop environment.Key duties include:Manual machining using lathes, milling machines, large pedestal drilling machines, and a range of electric hand toolsDrilling and tapping holes to SAE specificationsMilling housings to suit component fittingDismantling, assembling, and testing hydraulic gear pumps, motors, and flow dividersFault finding and assessing component failures using a dedicated test benchMachining ports into cast iron housings in line with engineering drawingsCarrying out routine machine care and basic maintenance to ensure equipment operates correctlyAssisting with other workshop duties when requiredMaintaining a clean and organised work area, including a weekly clean-downAbout YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:Proven experience in manual machiningStrong knowledge of lathes, milling machines, and drilling equipmentExperience working with hydraulic gear pumps, motors, or similar assembliesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawingsA practical, flexible attitude and willingness to support colleagues when neededA strong focus on quality, safety, and reliabilityHours & Overtime40.6 hours per weekMonday to Thursday: 08:00 17:00Friday: 08:00 15:00Overtime available when required:Weekday evenings: 2Saturdays: 5Salary & BenefitsUp to £30,000 per annum, depending on experience20 days annual leave, plus all bank holidaysSecure, permanent employment in a stable engineering environmentJBRP1_UKTJ
