Participate in the duty doctor rota. Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referral or referral from other healthcare workers. Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. Cover all clinical management of patients in surgery as appropriate, including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers. Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease‑management protocols and NICE guidance. Ensure appropriate follow‑up of patients. Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards. Prescribe generically whenever appropriate and in accordance with the ICB and Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice (as defined by BNF guidance). Comply with all objectives of QOF targets, ICB initiatives, nationally or locally commissioned enhanced services. Complete reports for solicitors, insurance companies and other third parties. Work with and support other members of the primary health care team in delivering high‑quality primary care. Take an active role in delivering clinical governance. Promote preventative health care and advice where appropriate. Lead on training, supervising and supporting learners (e.g. medical students). Adhere to NCPC agreed clinical procedures and protocols. Commit to life‑long learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practice. Contribute to evaluation, audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation. Attend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, including clinical and non‑clinical training. Participate in practice clinical meetings.
