A specialist manufacturing organisation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and deliver high-precision tooling used in regulated, high-reliability production.This role focuses on creating jigs, fixtures, and specialist tooling to improve assembly accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency. You'll work closely with engineering and production teams to take tooling from concept through to production use within a controlled clean-room environment.Key Responsibilities:Design and develop precision jigs, fixtures, alignment tools, and handling equipment for micro-assembly and testingProduce 3D models, assemblies, and fully toleranced drawings using SolidWorks, Creo, or similar CAD softwareDevelop tooling suitable for clean-room and ESD-controlled environmentsSupport laser-based manufacturing processes, including alignment and thermal considerationsWork with production teams to troubleshoot issues and improve repeatability and throughputCollaborate with suppliers and procurement to deliver cost-effective, compliant tooling solutionsSupport first-article builds and process validationBackground & Experience:Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldExperience designing precision tooling, jigs, or fixtures, ideally in electronics, micro-assembly, or regulated manufacturingStrong CAD skills and experience producing detailed technical drawingsUnderstanding of precision machining, material selection, and manufacturing processesAwareness of clean-room practices and ESD controlsExposure to laser processing, optics, vacuum systems, automation, or basic FEA is a plusAdditional Requirements:Eligible for UK Security Check (SC) clearanceOccasional travel to suppliers or other sites may be requiredPackage & Benefits:Competitive salary (£44,000 - £48,000) and pension with enhanced employer contributionFlexible working arrangements, including compressed hoursGenerous annual leave with option to purchase additional daysPrivate healthcare and health cash planLife assurance and employee wellbeing supportTraining, development, and education supportRelocation assistance for eligible candidates
