With operations in 17 countries and employing over 6,000 staff worldwide, our business responds to the needs of our clients by delivering high-value engineering expertise tailored to our clients' most complex challenges.In the UK, we have a key focus in the Nuclear sector, contributing to ground breaking projects, such as Hinkley Point C (HPC), as well as frameworks across fusion, defence and decommissioning.The Position: Mechanical Package Manager - Nuclear DecommissioningVulcain Engineering UK are seeking an experienced Mechanical Package Manager to lead the planning and delivery of complex mechanical and piping decommissioning packages within a major, safety-critical decommissioning programme.Some of the main responsibilities of the Mechanical Package Manager will include:Review and challenge decommissioning strategies, applying lessons learned from previous programmesAdvise on programme phasing, priorities, and critical engineering decisionsEnsure appropriate technical processes and operating procedures are developed, followed, and formally implementedDevelop detailed decommissioning plans for mechanical and piping systems, minimising disruption to surrounding activitiesCarry out site assessments to identify mechanical and piping assets for isolation or removalCoordinate decommissioning schedules with waste, logistics, demolition teams, and other site interfacesPerform risk assessments and implement effective hazard mitigation measuresResolve delivery challenges using experience-led, practical engineering solutionsWork closely with contractors, demolition teams, and facility managers to ensure safe and efficient executionOversee system documentation, inspections, testing, and status reporting before and after decommissioningProduce technical reports, presentations, and briefings on strategy, risks, progress, and deliveryPreferred Profile:Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following:Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplineProven engineering leadership experience delivering complex programmes or projectsPreferably, experience gained within the UK Nuclear sectorChartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognised professional institutionExtensive experience applying relevant mechanical and piping design codes and regulationsStrong knowledge of building mechanical and piping systemsFamiliarity with pressure systems and piping design standards (e.g. ASME B31.1, BS EN 13480)Good understanding of the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974Extensive experience in decommissioning, demolition, or facility decommissioning environmentsPlease note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs. Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK.
