At Sellafield, Altrad is a key delivery partner within the PPP programme, supporting long-term nuclear decommissioning and hazard reduction activities.Role OverviewWe are seeking motivated and technically capable Graduate Mechanical Engineers to support mechanical engineering activities across the Sellafield PPP programme.This is a site-based role within an operational nuclear licensed site, offering hands-on exposure to mechanical design implementation, construction, and installation in a highly regulated and safety-critical environment. You will work as part of an integrated PPP delivery team, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of mechanical systems, while following a structured graduate development pathway toward professional accreditation and Chartered status.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the delivery of mechanical engineering activities across PPP work packagesAssist with the implementation of mechanical designs, specifications, and work packs on siteSupport installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning activities for mechanical systemsPrepare and review technical documentation, including drawings, method statements, and reports under supervisionLiaise with multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure safe and efficient deliveryParticipate in site walkdowns, inspections, and progress reviewsEnsure mechanical works comply with Sellafield Ltd requirements, nuclear site licence conditions, and company proceduresPromote a strong safety culture and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standardsSupport continuous improvement and defect resolution activitiesActively engage in graduate training, mentoring, and professional development activitiesKey RequirementsBachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplineStrong interest in mechanical engineering within nuclear or highly regulated environmentsGood technical understanding, problem-solving, and analytical skillsEffective communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary site teamsAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a site-based delivery environmentCompetent in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); exposure to mechanical design or project tools is desirable but not essentialPrevious industrial placement, site experience, or mechanical construction exposure is advantageous but not essentialSecurity & Eligibility RequirementsDue to the nature of the Sellafield site and PPP programme:Applicants must be Sole British NationalsApplicants must be eligible to obtain UK Security ClearanceWhy Join Altrad at Sellafield?Contribute to one of the UK's most significant nuclear decommissioning programmesGain long-term experience delivering mechanical engineering works within a PPP delivery modelStructured graduate development programme with mentoring and professional supportCompetitive salary and benefits packageClear career pathways toward Chartered Mechanical Engineer statusA professional, collaborative, and safety-driven working environment
