Business Development ManagerContract Type: PermanentLocation: Birmingham (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home)Salary: £100,000 per annumCar Allowance: £680 per month Car Lease Allowance OR £730 per month Car Cash AllowancePension: 5% employer contributionAnnual leave: 28 days annual leave (excluding public holidays)Travel: Yes 20% travel to and from other sites around the midlands area and adhoc travel to EuropeMedical Cover: Family Medical Cover*The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in the Automation or Warehouse sector*About the RoleWe are seeking a driven and commercially astute Business Development Manager (BDM) to play a pivotal role in identifying, developing, and transferring new business opportunities within the warehousing sector.Working closely with Marketing and Sales, you will share market insights, generate high-quality leads, and help shape future growth. This is a strategic position focused on sustainable growth, brand elevation, and early engagement with senior customer stakeholders.Key Responsibilities:Execute strategic business development initiatives within the warehousing sectorProactively identify new business opportunities and drive lead generationDevelop and manage target account lists across designated verticalsPrepare high-level ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) estimates prior to formal Sales handoverBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and consultantsEngage senior decision-makers early to position the company's value propositionIdentify key stakeholders and assess their role in the buying processEnsure seamless handover of qualified leads to Sales and Sales EngineeringConduct market research and competitive analysis to inform business development strategyIdentify market trends and translate insights into actionable growth plansCollaborate with Marketing and Sales to generate and qualify MQL and SQL leadsEnhance brand awareness and drive interest in solutionsRepresent the company at trade shows, networking events, and industry forumsManage targeted lead generation campaigns and digital initiativesDesign and optimise channel and vertical market structuresDevelop and implement integrator partner programmesCoach and mentor Business Development colleaguesPromote continuous professional development through training and mentoringSkills & ExperienceStrong commercial acumen, including ROI, payback period, and NPV analysisProven experience building sales pipelines in complex B2B environmentsAbility to visit customer sites, identify opportunities, and engage senior leadershipExcellent networking and relationship-building skillsA strategic mindset with a long-term growth focusSelf-motivation, proactivity, and a results-driven approachStrong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple prioritiesExperience conducting market research and translating insights into strategyKnowledge of digital marketing and communicationsExperience owning demand generation via digital tools, email, and social mediaAbility to develop solution-focused campaigns to maximise engagementUnderstanding of digital optimisation across website, social media, and marketing technologyExperience transitioning from traditional media to interactive digital communications
