Job Title: Waste Yard SupervisorLocation: Kemsley Mill, SittingbourneSalary: CompetitiveJob type: Full time, PermanentWorking Hours: 47.5 Hours Per WeekAbout Us:FGS Industrial Facilities Management is a Kent based multi-skilled business capable of responding to the needs of industrial clients and their sites.Through our proven track record, our can-do attitude, we are committed to providing bespoke industrial cleaning services, tailored to our clients' needs.The Role:We are seeking an adaptable and proactive Waste Yard Supervisor with strong people management experience to oversee the efficient operation of our waste yard.The successful candidate will be responsible for managing high volumes of waste movements, supervising staff, and ensuring operational excellence across all yard activities.Responsibilities:Manage and supervise daily waste yard operations, ensuring a high turnover of waste movements is handled efficiently and safely.Conduct daily stock checks of each material on the waste apron and maintain accurate records.Maintain control of bay stock levels, ensuring materials are stored correctly and volumes remain within operational limits.Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of the Press/ Baler, RPC and supporting equipment.Supervise the Sludge and RCF operations to ensure compliance and efficiency.Monitor and manage wear and upkeep of machine ancillaries (e.g., blades, wrap stocks) to minimise downtime and maintain productivity.Carry out and support internal audits and compliance checks.Collect daily moisture samples for DS Smith and ensure accurate reporting.Ensure daily vehicle checks and machine walk-arounds are completed and recorded.Assist with maintenance tasks and coordinate planned downtime, servicing schedules, and machinery inspections.Proactively encourage fault finding, identify operational issues, and communicate concerns effectively to the wider team and workshop.Manage alternative shift patterns and ensure thorough and effective shift handovers.Lead, motivate, and manage a team within the waste yard environment.Conduct return to work interviews and manage the sick leave process in line with company policy.Manage team holidays and always ensure adequate operational cover.Promote a positive safety culture and ensure all team members follow company procedures and standards.About you:Essentials:Proven experience managing people in a fast paced operational or waste management environment.Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Practical understanding of machinery operation, maintenance coordination, and stock control.Proactive, adaptable, and solution-focused approach.Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across teams and shifts.Desirable:360 Materials HandlerLoading ShovelTelescopic Handler (Telehandler)Benefits:Life Insurance with access to GP24Commitment to wellbeing through Employee Assistance ProgrammeElectric Car salary sacrifice scheme for eligible employeesCycle to work schemeCompany EventsGymFlex salary sacrificeOvertime rate at 1.5 on weekendsPlease click on the APPLY button to send your CV for this role.Overseas candidates will NOT be considered for this role.
