Priory Hospital Kemple View is looking to recruit a principal psychologist to join the team. This is a part time role of 22.5 hours.Located in Blackburn, Lancashire, Priory Hospital Kemple View is a 90-bedded hospital, offering level 2 rehabilitation, and secure services, for adult males. We can support people with a mental health condition and/or a personality disorder.What you'll be doingYou will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patientsUndertake the role of Principal Psychologist for a designated ward(s) and/or group of patients as agreed with the Head of Psychology. This includes assessment, formulation, intervention (group and/or one to one) and evaluation in line with the patient's presentation and care pathway. Assess patients using appropriate assessments and psychometric measures and interpret and report results accuratelyTo work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.To co-ordinate delivery of psychological assessment and intervention from other psychology staff including qualified psychologists, trainee psychologists, assistant psychologists and students and where appropriate to act as a point of liaison between the inpatient psychology pathway and the community psychology pathwayTo provide consultation and advice to professional staff from other disciplines on psychological assessment, therapy and techniques for working effectively with particular service users.You can find additional information in the attached job description.What you'll bring to the roleOur work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.The successful candidate will possess a confident grasp of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and at least two additional therapeutic modalities, including one with specific relevance to interventions used for local or equivalent disorders. They will demonstrate a strong understanding and application of therapeutic principles, with a willingness to undertake further training where required. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience working with complex clients and delivering high-level interventions tailored to their needs, alongside formal training in clinical supervision.
