In this role, you will be taking over a small practice of existing clients and be supported to grow your own practice and team in one of our regional offices. The prospects for development to partnership are excellent. The role is for a patent attorney with a background in electronics and software, with the ability to handle a wide range of subject matter, including mechanical.ResponsibilitiesPatent attorney services for direct clients, usually UKbased, including:Drafting of new patent applicationsProsecuting patent applications in the UK and Europe, and overseas via associatesHandling freedomtooperate reviews and opinionsProviding associated patent adviceProsecution of UK and European patent applications for overseas associate clientsSupporting clients in the management of their patent portfolio and development of their inhouse IP management functionWorking alongside other professionals in Gateley, such as solicitors and IP consultants, to provide a broader range of professional services to clientsBusiness development activities, including growing networks, strengthening existing relationships of the firm, and pitching to potential new clientsQualificationsQualification as a UK and European patent attorneyMinimum of 5 years of postqualification experienceA background in electronics and softwareSignificant experience of direct client work, including drafting of new applicationsEffective client communication and portfolio management skillsEnthusiasm for business development and networkingHigh level of professionalism and integrityStrong analytical and problemsolving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamBenefitsAn excellent salary and competitive remuneration package, with potential annual bonus, is on offer.
