The RPM technology is used by leading semiconductor equipment companies worldwide.Based in Abingdon, UK, we are a highcalibre team of over 100 people and continue to grow, backed by global investors including Applied Ventures.Reports ToSenior Director Design & Engineering.Primary PurposeThe Software Director is responsible for defining and executing the software strategy, leading a team of engineers and ensuring the delivery of highquality, robust software solutions integral to our metrology products. The role requires a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and deep knowledge of software development best practices across a crossfunctional engineering team.Responsibilities and DutiesOwn a coherent software strategy and deliver new features while managing technical debt and aligning with other functions.Manage software competence managers (C#, LabVIEW, Python), focusing on leadership across languages.Work with architects to drive architectural design and development of scalable, reliable, maintainable software systems.Ensure effective team management: career development, resourcing, recruitment, mentoring, training, appraisals.Build and embed processes that support best practice and continuous improvement, including software testing.Professional Skills & Abilities10+ years of teamlead and peoplemanagement experience, including 5+ years managing software managers.Experience in machinetool software, desktop applications, realtime control, or similar.Experience integrating software with evolving hardware and partnering with crossfunctional teams.Agile experience and application of lean methodologies in a multidisciplinary environment.Track record of implementing process improvements and continuous improvement.Experience working with external partners in overall software delivery.Deep knowledge of the software development cycle and programming best practices.Desirable: highvolume manufacturing (HVM) semiconductor industry experience; incorporating thirdparty code to meet standards.Personal Skills & AbilitiesSelfmotivated and supportive, inspiring a collaborative team culture.Positive and pragmatic, aligning with dynamic business priorities.Excellent verbal and written communication.Role is predominantly onsite; some workfromhome possible.Benefits75,00090,000 salary (depending on experience)Annual bonus, 25 days annual leave, flexible working hours, hybrid working optionsDeath in service, private health care benefits, personal pension contributions (4% salary sacrificed)Generous EMI share scheme.Equality, Diversity & InclusionAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability. xjdpvnf We welcome applications from all backgrounds and actively encourage individuals from underrepresented groups to apply.
