Youll be stepping into a highimpact role where your ideas shape the way we build, scale and evolve our technology. From guiding crossteam architecture to enabling faster, safer delivery, youll influence some of the most important technical decisions we make. If youre motivated by solving meaningful problems and raising the engineering bar, youll thrive here.Location & Flexible WorkingHybrid Norwich or London (12 days per week at primary office)What youll doLead architecture, system design and technical strategy across several squadsDefine and embed technical standards, patterns and best practicesImprove software performance, reliability, security and maintainabilityOversee engineering workflows, including release processes and architecture reviewAct as a technical escalation point for complex issues and crossteam decisionsPartner with product and technology leaders to prioritise work and allocate resourcesFacilitate design reviews, workshops and knowledgesharing sessionsProvide handson engineering support for highimpact or highrisk projectsManage, coach and mentor engineers at all levelsLead hiring, onboarding and development for your direct reportsJoin squads when needed to deliver strategically important initiativesHelp evaluate and adopt new tools, technologies and processesShape crossdiscipline architecture and contribute to companywide technology strategyWhat youll bring10+ years of experience in software engineering (backend, frontend or fullstack)Strong knowledge of modern architectures (APIfirst, microservices, composable)Proven experience leading system design, architecture reviews and technical decisionmakingAbility to debug, optimise and improve complex distributed systemsExperience with modern engineering practices (CI/CD, automation, DevOps principles)Clear and inclusive communication skills with technical and nontechnical stakeholdersAbility to influence decisions, build alignment and collaborate across squadsStrong coaching and mentoring capabilities, especially for senior engineersStrong planning, estimation and forecasting skillsSteady judgement and calmness during highstakes or timecritical incidentsA strategic mindset, understanding how technical decisions impact business outcomesBreadth across the full technology stack (backend, frontend, mobile)Ability to set and guide multiyear technical directionAbility to navigate complex organisational environments and build trusted relationshipsYou haveAmbition (dream big): you translate the strategy into action (projects, tasks and processes)Judgement (make good decisions): you identify the need for tactical change and lead on implementationDiscipline (adhere to high standards): you follow results closely and adapt plans as necessaryInfluence (have a big impact): you facilitate collaboration and manage talent efficientlyAccountability (take full responsibility): you deliver results and identify issues, setting up ways to avoid themAnd finally you live by our Naked valuesYou support all stakeholders from the winemaker, through to the customer.
