You will lead the design of highvoltage cable systems from feasibility to construction, supporting projects across the power, energy, and infrastructure sectors. The role involves technical leadership, coordination with clients and DNOs/IDNOs, and collaboration with civil and construction teams to ensure fully integrated project delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design of highvoltage cable systems (11kV132kV and above) from concept to detailed designPrepare route feasibility studies, cable sizing, thermal ratings, and design calculationsDevelop cable routing drawings, trench crosssections, and joint bay detailsLiaise with DNOs, IDNOs, and consultants to ensure compliance with design standards and grid codesReview site surveys, geotechnical data, and constraints to optimise design layoutsProduce design risk assessments and technical documentation in line with CDM regulationsProvide design support during construction and commissioning phasesCoordinate with civil, protection, and substation engineers to ensure cohesive design integrationSupport tenders with technical input, design estimates, and engineering methodologiesMentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous design improvement processesRequirementsDegreequalified in Electrical or Power Engineering (or equivalent experience)Proven experience in highvoltage cable design and installation (11kV132kV or higher)Strong knowledge of cable rating calculations, protection coordination, and earthing systemsExperience working to DNO, National Grid, and ENA standardsProficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Cymcap, or similar thermal modelling toolsExcellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teamsStrong problemsolving and analytical abilitiesChartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards professional registrationKnowledge of civil interface requirements for HV cable routing and joint bay design xjdpvnf Experience working with ICPs or EPC contractorsUnderstanding of BIM processes and digital design toolsWhat We OfferOpportunity to lead technically challenging HV projects across the UKSupportive engineering team and investment in professional developmentCompetitive salary, car allowance, and benefits packageFlexible and hybrid working optionsCollaborative and forwardthinking company cultureHow to ApplyIf youre ready to take the next step in your career and contribute to major rail and infrastructure projects, wed love to hear from you.Apply now via the button above.
