Engagement Officer Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful Salary: 26,537 per annum Hours: 4-day working week Contract: Permanent (subject to funding) Location: Hybrid Home working and Belfast office (minimum 2 days per week) Charity Jobs NI is delighted to be working in partnership with Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful to recruit a proactive and community-focused Engagement Officer to join their Live Here Love Here team. This opportunity will particularly appeal to candidates currently working as a Community Engagement Officer, Volunteer Engagement Officer, Community Development Officer, Environmental Engagement Officer or Programme Officer, who are passionate about empowering communities to take positive environmental action. Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful is an independent charity dedicated to connecting people with nature through education, engagement and empowerment. Through its Live Here Love Here platform, the organisation supports communities across Northern Ireland to take pride in their local areas through clean-ups, biodiversity projects and volunteer-led initiatives. About the Role Community Engagement is a key strand of Keep Northern Ireland Beautifuls Strategic Plan. The Engagement Officer plays a vital role in delivering Live Here Love Here programmes, spending time directly within communities to build networks, strengthen relationships and inspire environmental action. You will proactively enhance and expand existing Live Here Love Here networks, empowering individuals, volunteers and community groups to make a positive environmental impact in their local areas. A particular focus of the role includes supporting and developing the Adopt a Spot programme and contributing to the delivery of the Small Grants project alongside colleagues. This is a hands-on, people-centred role that blends relationship-building, programme administration, volunteer engagement and content creation. You will regularly travel across Northern Ireland to attend community events, Adopt a Spot locations, meetings and photo calls. Key Responsibilities Community Engagement and Programme Delivery Proactively build and maintain the Live Here Love Here network. Promote and attend community engagement opportunities across a range of stakeholders. Procure and manage Adopt a Spot kits and programme resources. Refresh and develop the Adopt a Spot and Ambassador Scheme in collaboration with colleagues. Gather and analyse data through various platforms, including the Live Here Love Here website and social media channels. Engage volunteers and respond to enquiries relating to Live Here Love Here programmes. Take an innovative approach to event participation and community-led initiatives. Work to departmental timelines, budgets and reporting requirements. Collaboration and Communication Raise the profile of the Adopt a Spot programme and the wider Live Here Love Here partnership. Maintain strong internal communication with colleagues across Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful. Administer programmes from conception through to delivery, reporting and evaluation. Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures. Person Specification Qualifications and Experience Essential A relevant third-level qualification or at least three years equivalent experience. At least one years experience delivering projects or programmes. At least one years experience gathering data and producing reports. At least one years experience building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships. Good literacy and IT skills, including Microsoft Excel. Full driving licence and/or access to suitable transport. Desirable Experience working within the environmental sector. Knowledge and Understanding Essential Knowledge of environmental issues and activities or Understanding of community development approaches to behaviour change. Personal Qualities Essential Flexible, innovative and solutions-focused. Confident communicator who can build strong relationships. Comfortable working outdoors in a range of locations including beaches, streets and green spaces, engaging with people from all sectors of society. Staff are contracted to 37.5 hours per week but benefit from this enhanced working pattern.
