For those looking to work on complex, nationally important projects with long-term purpose and impact, the energy sector offers a unique opportunity to help shape a more resilient, sustainable future while developing skills that will be critical for decades to come.BAM UK & Ireland's Infrastructure segment has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Energy Networks Sector working on the development and delivery of energy projects in the Newcastle area which will increase energy capacity, helping to unlock significant investment in the North-East of England.Making PossibleAs a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following:Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy.Understand and ensure compliance with Company Procedures and Policies.Maintain effective communications with all disciplines within the Alliance and the BAM businessAssist in staff matters which may include: behavioural issues, competency, and staff allocation to meet a projects needsCarrying out staff performance and development reviews and assist in the operation of the commercial training programmeProvide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting and input to subcontract documentsCommercial management of subcontractors including processing payments, obtaining final account agreements, and resolving issues by negotiationMonitor the timely production of cost performance data and initiate discussions concerning project performanceProduce and present monthly / quarterly cost reportsBe responsible for identification and evaluation of changeBe responsible for the timely production of appropriate levels of applications for paymentsProvidecommercial advice to the site team, and management on contractual issuesProvide input and support for the production of financial assessments of insurance claimsWhat do you bring to the role?The following are necessary requirements:To be a Member of CICES or RICSThorough knowledge of construction processes and working methodsSuccessful experience at Senior Quantity Surveyor levelDemonstrable ability to mentor and coach colleaguesBe committed to promoting equality and diversityDesirable requirements:Understanding of construction law and contractual terms in standard contract formsTrack record of managing multiple suppliersProven ability to maintain and enhance client relationshipsExperience of working on alliance or joint venturesExperience in rail.Experience of ICC / NEC forms of ContractExperience of large civil engineering structuresWhats in it for you?Competitive salaryA wide range of family-friendly policiesCompany car/car allowance/travel allowance8 % matched pension contributionsPrivate healthcareLife assurance26 days holiday2 wellbeing days1 volunteering dayPersonal and professional developmentAbout BAMBuilding a sustainable tomorrow.
