Waking Night Childcare Worker(Children's Residential Home - Female Residents Only)Location: Ottershaw, Surrey (near Woking)Contract: Permanent, Part-time, Term-time only (all school holidays paid) Hours: 20 hours per week Shifts: Wednesday & Thursday, 9:00pm - 7:00am Salary: £12,831.50 - £13,281.50 actual salary (Full-time equivalent £25,663 - £26,563, inclusive of allowances)The RoleWe are recruiting an Assistant Waking Night Childcare Worker to join a caring and committed residential team supporting children overnight. This role plays a vital part in ensuring children feel safe, settled, and supported throughout the night in a residential educational setting.You will work closely with care staff, teachers, and therapists to provide consistent, child-centred overnight care that supports each child's wellbeing, development, and individual needs.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport children to achieve a restful night's sleep while maintaining safety and wellbeingImplement and follow individual care and Personal Development Plans during night shiftsProvide toileting support and assist with specific eating and drinking programmes where requiredMaintain accurate night-time records and handoversCarry out practical duties including cleaning, preparing resources, and setting up for the following dayContribute to children's personal, social, and emotional developmentAdhere strictly to safeguarding policies and proceduresEssential RequirementsExperience working with children, ideally those with additional or special educational needsGood communication skills and willingness to learn Signed Supported EnglishUnderstanding of safeguarding and behaviour management principlesAbility to work waking night shifts reliably and independentlyRight to work in the UK and ability to pass enhanced DBS checksDesirableRelevant childcare qualificationsExperience supporting female children with communication or speech and language needsFirst Aid or Positive Behaviour/Physical Intervention trainingWhat's on OfferStructured induction and ongoing training opportunitiesSupportive and inclusive working environmentAccess to wellbeing initiatives and employee benefitsPension scheme and additional financial benefitsSafeguarding & EqualityThis role is subject to enhanced DBS and safer recruitment checks.
