In our small school, you will be genuinely valued and trusted to make a real difference.If you are passionate about relationship-led learning and want to work in a school where you can truly know every student and see the impact you make, we would be delighted to hear from you.The RoleYou will:Teach Maths across secondary year groups, delivering engaging lessons that inspire students who may have previously struggled or disengaged, working collaboratively with our primary school maths teachers Deliver the Maths curriculum with real autonomy, working with senior leadership to design an ambitious and accessible curriculum using White Rose MathsOrganise students into learning groups for Maths, using your professional judgement to ensure every child is appropriately challenged and supportedHave a small tutor group where you will deliver our whole school personal development programme and be a key adult in those students livesUse the Thrive approach and trauma-informed PACE model to manage behaviour with empathy, structure and clear boundariesWork with a brilliant team of colleagues who share your commitment to these young peopleTrack progress carefully, celebrate the small wins and use assessment to shape what happens nextPlan enrichment and learning beyond the classroom, from community visits to school trips and activities that build confidence and skillsBe part of a school culture where your voice matters and you are trusted to leadWhat You Will BringEssentialA degree or equivalent qualification in a specialist subjectStrong knowledge of the Maths curriculum and genuine confidence teaching Maths at secondary levelUnderstanding of how to adapt the curriculum for students with SEN, including those with learning difficulties, autism and SEMH needsKnowledge of behaviour management techniques and the resilience to use them consistently with young people who have complex needsUnderstanding of the SEN Code of Practice and experience working with Individual Education PlansStrong planning and assessment skills, with the ability to personalise learning for individual studentsUnderstanding of safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and equal opportunitiesRelevant teaching experience, ideally with young people with SENExcellent communication skills with students, families and colleaguesStrong organisational skills and the ability to lead a curriculum area in a small school settingResilience, emotional intelligence and a genuine passion for working with vulnerable young peopleDesirableQualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or equivalent trainingExperience working in a SEN school or alternative provision settingKnowledge of White Rose MathsUnderstanding of therapeutic frameworks such as Thrive and trauma-informed approaches including PACEExperience leading a curriculum area or subject coordinationSpecialist SEN qualifications or trainingWorking pattern and benefits Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm, with minimal after-hours commitmentsFriday afternoons are CPD time with no students on site, plus 10 INSET days across the yearTherapeutic reflection and twice-daily briefings to support strong practice and consistencyRegular offsite outdoor learning and enrichment sessionsHot lunch cooked on site every dayOpportunities to collaborate across West Berkshire and with our partnership school, sharing expertise and best practiceLife insurance (death in service) 4x basic annual salaryHealth cash plan (Health Shield) after probation, eligibility appliesTraining and development induction and mandatory training, plus CPD, therapeutic support and further qualificationsFree holiday accommodation company holiday home on the south coastDiscounts Blue Light Card and local partner discountsEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP) free, confidential 24/7 support helplineCompany pension with an award-winning provider and enhanced employer contributionsCompany sick pay scheme after 6 months serviceElectric car scheme and Cycle to Work salary sacrifice optionsRecognition Employee of the Month and long service awardsDiscounted driving lessons with a local instructorReferral bonus scheme financial incentives for successful referrals (criteria apply)Equality and DiversityAmegreen is committed to being an organisation where people can be their authentic selves in a safe and inclusive environment.
