Building SurveyorAt Reach South Academy Trust were looking for a Building Surveyor to deliver high-quality building surveying, project management and contract administration across a diverse education estate. This hybrid role covers construction, maintenance, compliance, procurement and asset management within a growing multi-site organisation.If youve also worked in the following roles, wed also like to hear from you: Chartered Building Surveyor, Property Surveyor, Construction Project Manager, Estates Surveyor, Facilities Project ManagerSALARY: £40,777 to £45,091 per annum + BenefitsLOCATION: Hybrid working and you can be based in Plymouth or Gloucestershire, with regular travel to Trust academies across South West EnglandJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentWORKING HOURS: 37.5 Hours per Week, Monday to FridayJOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Building Surveyor to deliver a comprehensive, solutions-focused building surveying service across a multi-academy estate in the South West.As a Building Surveyor you will manage construction and maintenance projects from design through to completion, ensuring statutory compliance, procurement best practice and effective contract administration under JCT contracts.Working closely with senior stakeholders, the Building Surveyor will provide building condition surveys, cost estimates, asset management planning and technical property advice, supporting estate improvement, health and safety compliance and long-term development.ABOUT USReach South is a young and developing Trust which operates across the South West of England with the aim of delivering all through 3-19 education. In order to deliver exceptional opportunities for learning, we need highly motivated staff across all parts of the organisation.Those we recruit are able to demonstrate that they share our values, are highly motivated to work with colleagues, within and beyond their school, to continuously develop their skills and pursue professional excellence.DUTIESYour duties as the Building Surveyor include:Project Management: Identify, design, procure and deliver construction and maintenance projects from inception to completionContract Administration: Prepare and administer JCT building contracts, chair pre-start and progress meetings and manage contractors on siteStatutory Compliance: Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, CDM regulations, planning and building regulationsBudget Control: Monitor project budgets, process certificates and invoices and provide accurate financial projectionsCondition Surveys: Undertake building condition surveys, prepare technical reports and provide costed solutionsAsset Management: Contribute to the development and delivery of a five-year asset management planHealth and Safety Oversight: Liaise with advisors and ensure contractors meet all health and safety and safeguarding requirementsStakeholder Engagement: Provide clear technical advice to senior leaders and support site teams across multiple locationsCAD and Documentation: Produce CAD drawings, specifications and maintain accurate O&M manuals and estate recordsCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSESSENTIALDegree in Building Surveying or equivalent professional qualificationPrevious experience in building surveying, construction and maintenance project managementExperience administering JCT contracts and overseeing procurement processesStrong knowledge of building regulations, health and safety legislation and compliance managementExperience with budget management, cost control and financial reportingWorking knowledge of IT systems including MS Office, MS Project and AutoCADExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholdersAbility to travel regularly to multiple sites across the South WestCommitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusive working practicesDESIRABLEMembership of RICS or similar professional bodyExperience contributing to policy and procedure developmentExperience within education, public sector or not-for-profit estates environmentsBENEFITSLGPS pensionGreat career progression and development opportunitiesAccess to our Employee Assistance Programme with many other benefitsOngoing training, networking and development across a wider organisationWe are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
