Software Engineering Team Lead / Software Engineering Manager Location: Bradford (Hybrid - 2 days onsite per week) Salary / Package: 80,000 + excellent benefits Exalto Consulting is supporting a leading UK retail organisation as they recruit an Engineering Team Lead / Software Engineering Manager. This is an opportunity to guide and strengthen an engineering function that underpins a major online retail platform. About the Role As the Engineering Team Lead, you will support and develop a motivated software engineering team responsible for delivering, maintaining and improving a largescale ecommerce platform used by millions of customers. This role blends people leadership with technical oversight. You will help create an environment where engineers feel trusted, supported and empowered to do their best work. You will also lead the delivery of roadmap initiatives that contribute directly to commercial and customer outcomes. What You'll Be Doing Leading, developing and supporting a highperforming ecommerce engineering team. Building a culture rooted in trust, accountability and continuous improvement. Holding regular onetoones, providing coaching and guiding professional development. Acting as an escalation point while enabling the team to resolve most issues independently. Overseeing the technical execution of roadmap features, improvements and fixes. Ensuring good engineering practices are followed and that quality is owned collectively. Collaborating closely with digital, UX, architecture, QA and wider business teams. Supporting planning, prioritisation and delivery cycles and driving iterative improvements. Leading postincident and postrelease reviews with a focus on learning. Ensuring compliance with UKGDPR, PCIDSS and other relevant UK regulations. Keeping customer outcomes at the centre of decisionmaking. Essential At least three years' experience leading an engineering team. Strong problemsolving skills and sound technical judgement. Clear, confident communication and effective leadership skills. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of accuracy. Pragmatic, adaptable and focused on delivering measurable value. Comfortable working with autonomy. Desirable Knowledge in areas such as digital marketing, digital merchandising, search and navigation, taxonomy, content management or digital analytics. Experience delivering or supporting Ecommerce systems in a UK online retail environment. Experience working with offshore delivery partners. Ability to manage conflict and build trust across teams. Confidence to challenge established practices constructively. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field. This is a hybrid role based in Bradford. Periods of flexibility may be required at key stages of delivery.
