Chef - Newcastle upon TyneCompany Description Junior school chef requiredHolroyd Howe.Full Time: 30 hours per week, Term time onlySalary: 13.41Location: Newcastle High School for Girls, Sandyford road, Newcastle NE2 1TAJob Description Under the direction of the Unit Manager, you will take pride in ensuring the food we make to order is produced to a high standard of quality. This is varied and creative role, so you will also assist the Unit Manager in planning our menus and food provision, taking into account any allergen constraints or equipment availability.Key Tasks and Responsibilities:Carry out all catering activities under the direction of the Unit ManagerEnsure all food is produced on time to the required quality standardsEnsure all incoming raw materials and packaging when delivered is in accordance with specifications and is stored in the correct areas of the site.Ensure all kitchen facilities and all equipment are cleaned in accordance with the prescribed method and to the correct scheduleEnsure catering service effectiveness, ensuring waste minimised, and write offs within agreed limits, in accordance of the cost planEnsure all quality records are completed accurately and on timeSupport a zero harm culture Our Ideal candidate will have the following characteristics in line with our valuesTogetherness Ability to work as part of a team A flexible approach to working hours Be supportive of colleaguesNurture Keen to learn on the job Hold Food Safety Level 2 (or be able to achieve on appointment)Pride Be honest and trustworthy Able to work independently Have a can-do approachPlanet Hygienic approach and manner Committed to zero harm and sustainable practices Qualifications City & Guilds 706/1 & 2, NVQ Level 2 or Commis Chef Level 2Food Safety Level 2 (or able to achieve on appointment)Skills/Knowledge/Experience Required: Clear verbal and written communicatorAble to work well in demanding situations and against time pressuresAble to minimise wasteful practicesFlexible approach to working hours/days
