Job DescriptionPlease make an application promptly if you are a good match for this role due to high levels of interest.An established engineering manufacturer with over 30 years experience supporting national and international infrastructure projects is seeking an Estimator & CAD Draughtsperson to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with steel estimating experience and strong CAD capability to play a key role in delivering diverse, technically interesting projects.The RoleWorking on assignments ranging from simple one-off components to major long-term infrastructure projects, you will be responsible for producing accurate estimates, high-quality drawings, and providing technical support throughout the production lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & CostingAnalyse customer requirements and prepare accurate, competitive estimate bids within deadlines.Collate material, subcontractor and labour costs, ensuring all quotations are reliable, current, and commercially aligned.Apply engineering principles to assess feasibility of manufacture and construction.Estimate fabrication times and work closely with production to ensure appropriate methodologies and efficiencies.Maintain clear and accurate records, ensuring all revisions or drawing updates are fully documented.Technical & CADProduce high-quality, detailed 2D and 3D drawings using TurboCAD.Candidates with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks experience will also be considered.Modify existing drawings and ensure all designs comply with industry standards and health & safety requirements.Apply value engineering principles to improve cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.Collaboration & CommunicationLiaise closely with engineers, designers, customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and structural teams to validate information and ensure accurate quotations.Attend project meetings with production management to support on-time, on-budget delivery.Prioritise incoming enquiries to maintain strong customer satisfaction.Conduct occasional client and site visits as required.About YouTo be considered for this role, you will need:Proven experience in steel estimatingideally within major steel or infrastructure projects.Strong CAD capability with the ability to create and interpret technical drawings.Excellent understanding of engineering materials, fabrication processes, and construction principles.High level of computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Excel (formulas, spreadsheets, data handling).Strong organisational, communication, and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple live projects.Commercial awareness and a good understanding of industry best practices.A collaborative approach, strong problem-solving abilities, and the confidence to work proactively.Willingness to travel for client or site visits when needed.Benefits & OpportunitiesCompetitive salary of 35,000 per year.Supportive, friendly team environment.Opportunities for ongoing professional development.Chance to contribute to significant engineering and infrastructure projects with a respected, growing company.ImportantYou must already live within a reasonable commuting distance of the site near Peterborough.Relocation is not offered and will not be considered. xjdpvnf Please submit your CV and a short cover letter explaining your relevant experience and why this role interests you.Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to discuss next steps.
