Youll be part of a supportive safeguarding team, providing direct practical and emotional support to young people, families and carers.This is a highly rewarding role focused on empowerment, participation and independence.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport care & pathway planningVisit children in placementsProvide practical and emotional supportUndertake life story workDeliver planned programmes of workSupport reunification with familiesContribute to assessments and reviewsAssist young people transitioning into education or trainingPrepare young people for adulthoodFulfil statutory Personal Adviser dutiesProvide impartial advice around education, training, accommodation & life skillsContribute to needs assessments & pathway planningEncourage independence and self-carePromote engagement in employment, education and trainingSupport care leavers towards independenceAct as case manager for young people up to age 21 (or 25 if in full-time education)Maintain regular contact with care leaversUpdate and review pathway plansProvide emotional, practical and financial supportLiaise with Adult Services, Mental Health, Substance Misuse, Probation & HousingSecure appropriate accommodation where neededEnsure young people access entitlements and opportunitiesPromote young peoples participationDeliver group work sessionsHelp develop social, leisure and learning opportunitiesSupport participation forums for young peopleAdvocate on behalf of young people and familiesCase management & professional dutiesMaintain accurate case recordsPrepare reports for meetings, conferences and reviewsWork within safeguarding policies, procedures & legislationParticipate in multi-agency planningAttend supervision, team meetings and trainingRequirementsEssentialNVQ Level 3 in Childcare (or equivalent)Significant professional experience xjdpvnf working with children or adolescentsStrong verbal & written communication skillsUnderstanding of equality, diversity & anti-oppressive practiceAbility to build effective relationships with young people & professionalsAbility to de-escalate conflict and support young people in distressKnowledge of child development & safeguardingAbility to follow policies, procedures & legal frameworksWillingness to work outside standard hoursDesirableKnowledge of issues affecting children looked afterExperience delivering group workWhat Youll GainOngoing training and developmentSupportive, professional team environmentStrong safeguarding cultureFocus on staff wellbeing and reflective practiceOpportunities to grow and develop professionally
