We are looking to recruit a childrens Social worker to join Powys County Council'sAssessments Team and play a key role in safeguarding children while providing high-quality, strength-based social work support.About the RoleAs a Childrens Social Worker within the Assessments Team, you will work with children and families at the most critical times. You will carry out assessments, identify risks, and intervene to protect children, ensuring statutory requirements are met. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic, multi-agency environment where your skills and experience will directly impact childrens lives.Key ResponsibilitiesAssessment & Risk ManagementUndertake comprehensive, strength-based assessments of children in need and their families.Ensure child protection enquiries are conducted thoroughly and within statutory timescales.SafeguardingRespond to crises and intervene to protect children from harm.Identify risks and implement robust safety plans for children and families.CollaborationWork closely with multi-agency partners, including police, schools, and health professionals.Contribute to creating a team around the child approach to ensure holistic support.Case ManagementManage a caseload of complex, high-risk cases.Produce high-quality reports, recommendations, and documentation to support legal proceedings or access to services.Relationship-Based PracticeEngage with children and families to understand their needs, strengths, and resilience.Build strong, trusting relationships to support long-term positive outcomeWhat on offer?:Hybrid working options (minimum on-site requirements may apply)Supportive management and regular supervisionOpportunities for ongoing professional developmentAbout YouQualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England (SWE).Experience in childrens social care, ideally within assessment and safeguarding roles.Strong assessment, safeguarding, and case management skills.Ability to work collaboratively across multi-agency teams.Committed to child-focused, relationship-based practice. xjdpvnf If you're looking for your next locum role in a meaningful industry, apply today.
