About the role The Financial and Model Risk (FaM) function is an independent 2nd line Risk team reporting to the Chief Risk Officer. As trusted advisors to the 1st line of defence, we support risk-based decision-making by ensuring models across the Group are reliable, accurate and well controlled. The role holder will independently validate and verify a wide range of models, primarily for Credit Risk but also those supporting Finance, Treasury and Economic Crime. Along with carrying out detailed reviews of new and existing models, the role holder will apply statistical and analytical techniques using specialist software and clearly communicate findings to model risk forums and committees. Collaboration is key and the role holder will work closely with colleagues from different areas of the business and contribute to broader model risk initiatives, including refining risk appetite and enhancing validation standards. We welcome applicants who bring strong technical and analytical skills, experience with statistical or modelling tools, and the ability to explain complex topics in a clear and accessible way. A solid understanding of the regulatory framework and expectations relating to model risk management. Confident stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively, influence decisions and build positive relationships. Experience interacting with senior managers, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and accessible way. A background in a statistical or analytical environment, ideally within financial risk management, model validation or model development. Knowledge and experience of programming in SAS or Python, along with advanced skills in MS Excel. Experience in these areas would be helpful: Exposure to modelling areas such as advanced internal ratings-based (A-IRB) or credit forecasting models. A broad understanding of other models or quantitative techniques used across the wider business. Knowledge of balance-sheet forecasting tools such as QRM.
