This role focuses on the design and development of launch systems for UAV platforms, so experience working on high-pressure, high-energy or mechanically complex systems is essential.Candidates should have a proven background designing robust, manufacturable solutions involving sheet metal structures, hydraulic or pneumatic actuation, and tightly integrated mechanical assemblies. Experience within aerospace, defence, motorsport, heavy machinery or any environment involving launch mechanisms, actuation systems or propulsion technology would be highly relevant.This is a technically challenging programme requiring practical engineering judgement and the ability to design systems that operate reliably under demanding conditions.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop mechanical components and assemblies for launch systems and propulsion platformsProduce detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawingsDesign sheet metal structures, enclosures and brackets for aerospace applicationsDevelop and integrate pneumatic and hydraulic systemsSupport system layout, packaging and integration activitiesWork closely with manufacturing to ensure DFM/DFA principles are appliedParticipate in design reviews and technical problem-solving sessionsSupport prototype builds, testing and design refinementRequired ExperienceStrong background in mechanical design within aerospace, defence, motorsport or high-performance engineering environmentsProven experience designing sheet metal components and assembliesHands-on experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems integrationExperience working on propulsion, launch systems, UAVs or similar high-energy mechanical systemsProficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA or similar)Ability to produce detailed engineering drawings to manufacturing standardExperience working in fast-paced prototype environmentsDesirableExperience in UAV or aerospace vehicle developmentFamiliarity with high-pressure systemsExperience with lightweight structural designUnderstanding of test and validation processesPrevious contract experience in engineering-led SMEsEngagement DetailsContract roleOutside IR35Fully remoteCompetitive day rate (£ DOE)Initial 3-month engagement (likely extension)If this is of interest please apply on LinkedIn or email
