Teaching AssistantLocation: RichmondPosition: Teaching AssistantStart date: ASAPPay: £1700 - £2100 per monthTemp to PermA primary school based in Richmond are looking for a teaching assistant to join a KS1 classroom as soon as possible after half term with the view to go permanent before the end of the academic year. The successful candidate will be joining the schools established SEN department to assist a student with mild ASD in a 1:1 role. Your main responsbility will be to enhance the pupils learning either individually away from the class in sensory rooms and quiet areas of the school or as a group. The school is a lovely modern building that was recently renevated during the pandemic and has great facilities to assist SEN students. This year they are almost at full capacity with 2 classrooms per year group ranging from EYFS up to Year 6. You will be joining a school that focuses on a set of shared values that help the students to work co-operatively and with respect. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A TEACHING ASSISTANT:Teaching Assistant Support for PupilsSupport pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leaderSet challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independenceImplement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learningEstablish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectationsPromote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupilsProvide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacherTeaching Assistant Support for TeachersCreate and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils' workUse strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goalsDiscuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will beMonitor pupils' responses to learning activities and accurately record and feedback to the teacher as directedQUALIFICATIONS FOR TEACHING ASSISTANT Desirable for teaching assistant:An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalentIf you would like to be considered for this teaching assistant opportunity, please send your application and if successful we will contact you with full information about the role and the school.
