Trainee Clerk - Family LawInterested in this role You can find all the relevant information in the description below.Cardiff City CentreUp to circa 35,000 (DOE)Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 6:00pm, or as required)TSR Legal is delighted to be working on behalf of a busy and well-established Family Law team in Cardiff, seeking to appoint a Trainee Clerk. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual looking to develop a career in legal clerking or practice management within a fast-paced and professional environment.This role would suit someone who thrives under pressure, enjoys building strong working relationships, and takes pride in delivering a high standard of service.The RoleAs Trainee Clerk, you will play a key role in supporting the Family Law team, acting as a central point of contact to ensure the smooth progression of matters. You will liaise regularly with barristers, solicitors, clients, and third parties, often managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.Key ResponsibilitiesProviding day-to-day support to barristers and solicitorsCommunicating confidently and professionally via telephone, email, and in personManaging competing priorities and deadlines in a busy office environmentBuilding and maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholdersHandling sensitive information with discretion and professionalismManaging enquiries from solicitors, clients, and third parties, ensuring accurate records are maintainedEntering and managing instructions, case papers, and notes on the case management systemManaging barristers' diaries, including court listings, venues, and timingsEnsuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including the BSB Handbook, AML procedures, conflicts, and complaints processesAssisting with fee quotes, billing, and fee chasing as directed by senior clerksRecording and escalating fee disputes where requiredDeputising for clerks during periods of absence (as agreed)Supporting inter-team cooperation to ensure efficient service deliveryAssisting with seminars, talks, and marketing activitiesPresenting a professional image at all timesUndertaking any other reasonable duties to support the practice management functionAbout YouExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience within Family Law, particularly Legal Aid matters, is desirableConfident and professional telephone mannerHighly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively xjdpvnf Able to thrive in a busy office and adapt to changing prioritiesProfessional, proactive, and detail-orientedIT literate and comfortable using case management systemsKeen to build a long-term career in legal clerking or practice managementA strong team player with a positive and hardworking attitudeWhat's on OfferSalary up to circa 35,000 (dependent on experience)An exciting opportunity within a supportive and professional Cardiff-based organisationExposure to high-quality Family Law workA busy and engaging working environment with genuine career development prospectsIf you are looking for a role where your organisational skills and communication abilities will truly make an impact, TSR Legal would be pleased to hear from you.
