Shape the success of major civil engineering projects from the ground up.Take the next step in your career now, scroll down to read the full role description and make your application.Our Client has a requirement for a Senior Civil Engineering Estimator, who will be required to work on a permanent basis in Preston.Role Purpose:Support the successful delivery of tenders across civil engineering projects ranging from 100k to 10mAnalyse and interpret project information to develop effective construction and pricing strategiesIdentify risks and opportunities and incorporate them into competitive tender submissionsLead and coordinate bid activities, ensuring high-quality and timely submissionsContribute to winning work within a strong and growing project pipelineJob Role Responsibilities:Analyse scheme requirements including construction methods, programmes, and management approachesIdentify risks and opportunities and integrate them into tender bidsCollaborate with Design and Delivery teams to develop effective work strategiesIdentify key win themes and manage bid processes with multiple contributorsSource and assess additional information required to strengthen tender submissionsChallenge designs and methodologies to propose alternative solutions and innovationsPrice civil engineering works (earthworks, drainage, ducting, paving) from first principlesPrepare construction programmes and sequences (ASTA Powerproject experience desirable)Identify and manage subcontract packages, including supplier engagement and tender analysisCompile comprehensive net cost estimates including preliminary itemsPresent estimates at internal adjudication meetings and implement feedbackEnsure timely and compliant tender submissions aligned with client specificationsFollow up on submitted tenders and support commercial discussionsProvide clear project overviews, highlighting risks and opportunitiesReview tender performance post-contract to support continuous improvementExperience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:Experience within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 infrastructure main contractor environmentStrong background in estimating civil engineering projects (bridges, highways, public realm, utilities)Proven ability to price work from first principlesKnowledge of Conquest and ASTA Powerproject software (desirable)Good understanding of pricing and quantification methodsStrong organisational and analytical skills with the ability to meet deadlinesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build relationships under pressureExperience leading or supporting teams (desirable)Proficiency in IT, numeracy, MS Office, and estimating systemsMembership of a relevant professional body (RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE, CIBSE) or equivalent qualification (desirable)Benefits:Opportunity to work with an award-winning civil engineering teamInvolvement in high-profile and diverse projectsStrong pipeline of secured work for 2025 and beyondCareer development within a growing and supportive organisationExposure to innovative construction methods and technologiesCompany InformationAt First Recruitment Group we understand just how important it is to secure the right people.
