Astute's Nuclear Team is partnering with a leader in industrial waste management to recruit a Radioactive Waste Team Lead for its Winfrith, Dorset site.Take the next step in your career now, scroll down to read the full role description and make your application.The Radwaste Team Lead role comes with a salary between 50,000 - 55,000 (negotiable for the right candidate), pension scheme, and relocation assistance if necessary.If you're a Radwaste Team Lead, Transport Manager, or Radioactive Waste Specialist and are looking to work for an organisation that puts integrity and people at the forefront of everything it does then submit your CV to apply today.Responsibilities and duties of the Radwaste Team Lead roleReporting to the Head of RDAT you will:Ensure full compliance with all legislative, regulatory, and nuclear licence requirements for radioactive waste movementsManage and coordinate site transport operations, including road, rail, air, and sea shipmentsOversee preparation and approval of transport documentation, packaging, and consignment arrangementsAct as the Radioactive Material Transport Responsible Officer (RMTRO) for the siteLead and manage the RDAT team, providing technical guidance and supportEnsure all waste meets Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) prior to disposalMaintain accurate waste tracking and nuclear materials accountancy recordsLiaise with regulators, customers, and third-party disposal/recycling facilitiesSupport audits and ensure audit readiness across transport and waste compliance activitiesDrive continuous improvement of internal processes and compliance proceduresProfessional qualificationsWe are looking for someone with the following:A degree in radiochemistry, physics, or a related scientific/engineering disciplineExperience in radioactive waste management and/or dangerous goods transportKnowledge of relevant regulations (ADR, EPR, nuclear site licence conditions)Strong understanding of transport compliance and waste acceptance processesDGSA qualification or willingness to work towards itExperience in a regulated environment such as nuclear, manufacturing, or hazardous wastePersonal skillsThe Radwaste Team Lead - Transport & Accountancy role would suit someone who is:Highly organised with strong attention to detailA confident leader with the ability to manage and develop a teamA strong communicator able to engage with internal and external stakeholdersProactive and solutions-focused with a continuous improvement mindsetComfortable working in a highly regulated, compliance-driven environmentAble to make informed decisions under pressureSalary and benefits of the Radwaste Team Lead - Transport & Accountancy role50,000 - 55,000 (dependent on experience)Pension schemeFlexible working arrangementsOpportunity to gain DGSA qualification and further professional developmentWork within a highly specialised and safety-critical nuclear environmentCareer progression within a growing environmental and nuclear services organisation#LI-CM1INDNUCAstute People are acting as an employment agency in relation to this vacancy.
